Get naked today

Good morning everyone-I have to wonder where they come up with these interesting holiday's.

Now most of you know I am an avid gardener but I had NO idea they had a World Naked Gardening Day til yesterday when I happened to catch an article about it on the web.

I can imagine there will be some folks like in this pic who will happily prance around in the posies in their birthday suits.

I love playing in the dirt and watching things grow.  It is a sense of joy and fun except if are like me you get carried away and plant a 1/2 acre garden then at times especially since my back and body are being a "BEAR" but NOT "BARE" it is more of a chore you want to get finished and just enjoy.  I found this snippet and while I agree with the overall message and am all about supporting our enviroment this avid gardener will be out in her garden today and most days when the sun is out HOWEVER she will NOT be doing so in her BIRTHDAY SUIT.

Our culture needs to move toward a healthy sense of both body acceptance and our relation to the natural environment.

Gardening naked is not only a simple joy, it reminds us--even if only for those few sunkissed minutes--that we can be honest with who we are as humans and as part of this planet.

Sharon,

That is what I would call a risky business.  Imagine having to dead head and trim rose bushes...egads and dealing with bugs...but then as the French say to each his own.  LOL A

Lisa-I figured the title would draw in a bigger crowd. LOL Never saw the Seinfeld episode but in my book there is a time and place to get naked and in my garden isn't one of them.

Gary-Have NO plans of adopting this trend and besides it is only for the day but I am still not participating NAKED.

Jerry-You are so right.

James-Not many of us like our birthday suits.

Sandy and Norm-Tell them to google it. If it is on the internet it must be true. RIGHT? LOL

Raymond-You are so right and we been wanting forbidden fruit ever since

Tammy-That is the only place I would be naked as well. My private parts are just that. PRIVATE.

John-Your garden is safe then. Smiling

Kristin-I had no doubt you wouldn't

Sharon-Ticks are nasty little critters. I will have to check Roger's video out.

Gene-I figure the title is what brought you here. LOL

Belinda-I definitely wouldn't. I would scare my plants and they would most likely die of fright.

Michael-I am the only one in my garden and the only hoe is a garden tool not the gardener.

Donald-I will send you a cake with a file in it. Smiling

Alexandra-Risky and risque I would say.  I can't imagine doing that personally but I am sure there are folks somewhere in the world that would do it and love it. The bugs would be extra bad in certain locations for sure. Yes the french are a little more laid back about going naked. They think Americans are uptight when it comes to that. I am no prude but there are somethings that all the neighbors don't need to witness and me naked is at the top of that list.

Sharon I'm grinning ear to ear - first with your title - then the picture and then your fabulous post!  Who knew there was a naked gardening day!  Too funny!

Anna-Thank you. A lot of folks came over because of the title. Yes his sprinkler is conveniently covered by the water sprinkling can. How clever. A fellow tending to his woman with a twist. I sure didn't know. It is comical the things people come up with to celebrate

Fun post Sharon Lee ... I saw that mentioned Friday or Saturday morning... Since I live in a condo and my garden is several pots on the deck, I think my neighbors would appreciate I didn't bare it while attending my plants... ;O)

Rene-I think I would have been better off going with a container garden. I know my neighbors would be shocked if I did.

Lol, lol, lol. This is too funny, Sharon. I had the same exact thoughts as Alexandra.  No thanks, I'm going to keep myself clothed in my garden activities.

Hi, Sharon...how funny. There are too many pests in my area for me to try this. I recently was stung on the big toe on my right foot while wearing sandals...this was one of our sunny days, and I was pushing sandal wearing due to the temperature. At first I thought a bee had gotten me. I'm pretty allergic and the burning that happens right away got my attention. Then I saw the bug. I've never seen this alien creature before.

I didn't see the damage to my toe until the next day. It only stung for about ten minutes after the bite. Then on the second day, I woke up to an uncomfortable situation. I have a giant purple welt that burns and stings and itches at the same time. It's also bad enough to make the two neighboring toes itch as well. But I'm getting through it.

I guess the point is that I couldn't imagine having this happen in some other lesser exposed place of my body.

Debbie-I understand that. If you are allergic it is even worse. I wouldn't want to be bitten in a very private part. I hope it is better.

Hi, Sharon...well there really is a day for everything.

I won't comment on whether or not I've ever done this. Hmmmm...I'll leave that up to the imagination. Although I can tell you at my altitude you would get one heck of a sunburn trying this without the proper protection...ie sunscreen.

Debbie Laity -I guess you wouldn't be gardening naked after all as I read your previous comment. Did you ever figure out what did bite you?

That is one great way to get a sunburn in places you may not want to get a sunburn. I know from personal experience.
