I was showing a home to a buyer the other day and while upstairs we see another agent approaching through the window. Seconds later the door opens and we hear the agent saying "hello". I responded and kindly told her we were in the middle of a showing. She asked if they could tour the downstairs while we were up, I said no and proceeded to remind her of the agent etiquette when showing a home. She didn't seem to care, so in order to avoid a confrontation in front of clients, I let her continue showing.
I understand at times we make appts during the same window as other agents. The listing office should remind agents to wait outside until the other agent is finished, or walk the yard first. Better yet, agents should think about this and respect the agent showing.
Buying a home is an emotional experience, buyers want to feel comfortable walking through. They should not have to share their 15-20 minute experience with another impatient agent. From now on I will be locking the door behind us and keeping the key with me.
