No One to BLame ~ There's Always the Weather

By
Real Estate Agent with Florida Supreme Realty SL514814

How often have you sat down on a Saturday night and watched COPS? My favorite excuse is when I hear "it wasn't me, I didn't do it" coming from the mouths of the people who we just watched DO IT. The intent was never for it to be a comedy show although the actors certainly portray that scenario frequently.

Towards the end of May we were treated to some U.S. economic data that leaned into some signs of weakness in April's stats. There are always plenty of excuses for the hows and why this can happen but the list topper was "unusually bad winter weather". In my elementary school days I think a pass directly to the Principal's office would have been the response to this reasoning of poor performance. Other factors included a strong dollar and lower energy prices (head sinks in sadness). Please tell me what I'm missing?

The Gross Domestic Product, aka GDP, was virtually stagnant at .2% which conveeted to a 1% annualized growth. The economic expectations continue to erode after equalizing in actual performance in February. The slide was 3% in March, 4% in April and 6% in May. On the bright side this tends to bring happy thoughts of a cool but long Summer. Can't wait to see how that kind of weather affects our economy!

I just think they really don't know....someone took a vacation and no one did his job at the office; so upon his return this is what he came up with.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this song....

Kevin so true, don't worry and everything is gonna be already. Take responsibilities for your actions and we will have a better world. The check in the mail.

Sussie, I would like to hear that comment just once from anybody, it's too rare.

Ginny, I thougt that could ease the pain somewhat, Summer's almost here!

Blame works for a while Patricia until the truth leaches it's way out.

Margaret, accepting responsibility has become the bad habit today.

Evelyn, I hate to say it but we need more choices than what's out there now.

"Check in the mail",I haven't heard that excuse in a while Noah, you made me rethink snail mail usage.

Kevin - I think it would be out of character for them to say that the mountain of regulations and taxes that we've had to live with for way too long have been restricting growth. Maybe some day we can elect someone who belives in smaller government.

There are so few who have the X-ray vision Larry. A redefined cyber-knife (or cyber-sword) could work wonders simplifying the tangled landscape there.

Of course, some people can not take any responsibility for what they do, so they just exclude themselves from unpleasant situation. It is always: ''I'm good, she/hi/it is bad!''.

Love your analogy, Kevin.  Politicians and their advisers always need excuses for why their policies are not working.

Inna and Gabe, is it odd for me to perceive that there is strength in those who accept responsibility and weakness in those that do not? Sadly, my belief is that it is becoming an indefensible American trait that has been slowly working its way from the top down.

Kevin - we still have plenty to worry about and that should be taken to the politicians.  As for ourselves, it it up to us get the business and get it done.

The best answers are available within two generations of making education our priority, however, the political price is too unpredictable for our current governments to pay. The status quo is where they comfortably reside with brief bursts of consciousness.

Kevin - the weather in So. NH definately had a big impact on the real estate market.  There was so much snow, you could not even see the houses or navigate.

Joan, weather does have an impact but it is everywhere at diferent times and every year. Flood, drought, hurricane, tornado, blizzard or otherwise show up in various regions and affect millions in some form but to pinpoint the happening as a primary cause and effect of a weak U.S. econony is ludicrous in my opinion.
