Does it Help to Pay to Home Stage before you Sell Your Home?

I have some thoughts on the chart:

1. Almost all the impact is positive. Very few downsides for staging.

2. The front of the house (Curb Appeal) is not included in the room ratings, but curb appeal can be part of staging and is very important.

3. If doing a light stage the order of importance for room staging is about right. The only thing I would say is that if you have an odd room or odd space that is the space that needs staging.

4. They do not try to quantify staging in dollar amount returns. This is wise as it is a very subjective thing to evaluate. There are a lot of different factors that go into selling a home, it is difficult to break it down.

5. I disagree with some of the numbers on how effective staging can be. Only 49% of agents feel it generally has an impact on the buyers final decision. We often try to filter out packaging an hype when making a buying decision; however, staging is not just packaging, it is educating buyers on the homes potential; and packaging works better than most people will admit. If it did not Soda Companies, Beer Companies, Car Companies and so forth would not spend millions and maybe billions researching and implementing it.

Deciding to Stage or not to Stage is a big decision. It is also a decision that is hard to quantify. That is why it is important to consult with a good Realtor early on for a quality Staging referral. Generally a short consultation with a Stager is very affordable and can provide valuable insights even if you do not use a professional.
