Because we live in a rush-rush world that surrounds us with daily distractions, have families to care for; homes to clean and pressing social activities to address, we need some peace.  Meditation is nothing new, but we never give enough thought to making it part of our lifestyle. The benefits of this precious time spent in blotting out the world does more for you than taking a sleeping pill or remedies for a headache.

Let’s face it; dealing with all types of clients creates stress.  It’s not very pleasant to go to a presentation after speaking with the woman of the house who is so pleasant and accommodating, and then meeting her husband who behaves like a drill sergeant. Our nervous systems are constantly trying to adjust to these types of situations and more.

We can help this however and give ourselves a chance to bounce back to normal by strengthening our spirit.  Just take a few minutes out of the busy day to go in the bedroom or any place that’s quiet, close your eyes, breath slowly and drift into a place that has happy thoughts.  You might want to think about sitting on an island with a tasty drink all sun-tanned and ready for lunch to be served; gentle breezes caressing you as you listen to the lapping of ocean waves meeting the shore.  Past relationships that made you happy and the sounds of happy memories serve well to transport you to a peaceful place.  I do this often to revitalize and get ready to meet the world again; happy meditating.

I love meditating, it quiets my monkey-mind and I need to do more of it.  15 minutes of silence all for myself is so very rewarding.  I use the free app, Calm, sometimes and it's just what I need!

I have a "mindfulness bell" app on my phone which rings randomly.  When I hear it I take three deep breaths and enjoy the moment!

On an in breath I say to myself: "Smile" (sometimes it's an outward smile, sometimes it's just to myself)

On an out breath I will say: "I relax and touch joy".

Over time I have developed a repertoire of different things to say to myself when I stop to enjoy the moment.

I am always impressed by anyone who can meditate. It's not in my genes--the more I try to calm my mind the crazier it gets.

Ann Gravel - I always have mediatated about 10 minutes a day, if not more.

It makes a big difference in how the day goes by.

Ann - Taking a little time to rest and relax makes sense in this busy, crazy world in which we find ourselves.

I have tried to meditate but I can not quiet my mind. However, I am going to read this book on mindfulness. I know it just takes practice.
