They are growing

Happy Friday everyone-The baby robins are growing. They now have a bit more feathers or fur at this stage. Looks more like fur right now vs feathers.  All 4 are hatched. I watched them the first time they got fed after they had and have seen them get fed a few times after that. It is funny to see those heads pop up and those mouths open wide.

What I discovered the first time they got a meal is that the male robin feeds them and I imagine the mother does as well. The reason I know that the male feeds them is they were both at the nest at the first feeding and the one of them flew away and the other one sat on the hatchlings and the remaining eggs and I don't believe the male sits on the eggs but I am not sure, I just figure only Momma bird does that.

FIRST PICS WHEN ONLY TWO HAD HATCHED

TODAY WHEN THEY ARE ALL HATCHED AND GROWING FAST

Nicole-You are so right and the rate they are growing it won't be long.

John-I lived in Upstate NY for many years and that was a sure sign of Spring for us as well. They come earlier to Va.

Kathy-I do as much as I can. It is fun watching the parents feed them and watching the mouths open wide. I can sit about 20' from them and they will feed them with me sitting there.

Beth-I can't get over how fast they are going.  I will get more as time passes and as I am finding out it isn't a long time at all

Tammy-How cool. I hope you get to see them as well.

Jon-I think you would love to see this. I love the color too.

Sharon-I agree on both counts. This is my first time seeing them hatch. It was so fun

Gayle-Maybe in the bird world Dads do the feeding as well. I knew the cardinals did but really didn't know about other species. I will keep you updated as they grow.

Silvia-It would be a lot less colorful, exciting and their songs and habits are fun and melodious

It's amazing you were able to get so close to get your wonderful pictures. Thanks for sharing them. They are pretty neat to look at.

Today we had another 2.5 hour session at a new doggie park. Mike was with us. This park is in a much larger city just over an hour from me. A friend wanted to meet there, so we traveled up there. There's usually no less than eight dogs in this park at one time. Lucky was like a dog with ADD. He didn't know which group to play with and kept running from group to group. Lucky is really worn out tonight.

We are worn out, too. We came home and cut and organized more firewood. I just got a new load of it on Thursday. So that had to be taken care of. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Debbie Laity -I have 3 days of weather in the 60's so you know where I will be. My chair close by for when I have to sit. Without Mama robin there and them being so to the ground in that tree I was lucky to get that close. It was fun watching and amazing how fast they grew. I am glad you had such a good time with Lucky and Mike.  Cutting firewood is hard work. Hope your back is doing better. Enjoy your weekend.
