The Louisville weather is finally becoming beautiful, and everyone’s heading outside to enjoy it. What will you see when you’re in your outdoor spaces? If you want to get some tips on how to make those spaces amazing and buy some gorgeous plants to put in your garden, go to the Gardener’s Fair on May 10 at historic Locust Grove.

Landscaping in Louisville

More than 80 vendors will be offering herbs, perennials and flowers of all types, not to mention various gardening items to help you put your landscaping over the top.

Flowers at Locust GroveJoin in on the silent auction while you’re there. Food will also be offered, in case you work up an appetite while you’re shopping for your new garden plants. Your admission to the festival includes tours of the historic Locust Grove home itself, one of Louisville’s prettiest historic attractions. You’ll only pay $6 for each adult and $3 for each child.

The event begins at 10 am and doesn’t end until 5 pm. That should give you plenty of time to see everything. You’ll find it all at 561 Blankenbaker Lane, right in the heart of the East End community.

Around Locust Grove

Locust Grove is right next to Northfield, an independent city where residents pride themselves on maintaining a small-town feel.

Northfield is within hearing distance of the Ohio River. It has its own small downtown section and residential areas. You’ll find all sorts of shops and restaurants in the downtown and business sections of the city. The neighborhood was built on top of a horse breeding farm 3,500 acres. You can still see the old family home where the original farm owners, the Bate family, lived in 1798.

The neighborhood is much more modern today, of course. It’s filled with beautiful houses for families of all sizes, shady sidewalks for kids to play on, and gorgeous lawns and landscaping that make you want to take a second look. Go for a walk through beautiful Northfield this May, and maybe you’ll get more new gardening ideas while you’re there.
