Search Engine Optimization for Real Estate Pros

I was recently asked by Braden O'Neill over at RESAAS if I was willing to share my expertise on search engine optimization for real estate pros.

SEO For Real Estate ProfessionalsWhile I believe I have an understanding of blogging principles, and perhaps how to gain leverage via social media outlets, I definitely would not consider myself an expert on SEO "stuff".

I was a bit reluctant at first but the more I thought about it, the more it sounded like a good idea. Sharing my ideas with other real estate professionals, getting a little bit of brand exposure, and even snagging a few backlinks to profiles & articles of my choosing was a recipe that was hard to pass up!

If you are so inclined, follow the link to check out my article on "A Realtor's Introductory Guide to Search Engine Optimization". It is not a blueprint on "how-to" but it does breakdown a couple of the basic principles.

Make it a great day Rainers!

Thank you for breaking SEO down into simple language...I actually understood you better than when my techie web guy tried to explain it. Still, my expertise is real estate, so I hire out this ongoing project to the experts.

I am in that boat with you, Rob!

Happy to help, Michele. The more we try at this stuff the easier it starts to get...when we think we have arrived is when we get ourselves into trouble.

Lisa: Sharing information helps us all. It is one of the things I promised myself early on here in the Rain I would do if I learned something I thought others could benefit from.

Thanks Debbie. I am still a work in progress that is for sure.

Noah: G keeps us guessing. That is why I would always steer clear of anyone who can "guarantee" #1 spot on G for a specific keyword.

Michelle: I am willing to give things a try...some work well and others are clunkers.

Fred: Thanks as always. So glad you enjoyed it.

Rebecca: I learn a little, share a little, and try a little more. ;-)

Praful: I try to avoid duplicate articles...it might show back up here in the Rain as an infographic or slideshare but not the same article.

Jaretta: That is one of the very reasons I am trying to learn this stuff. I got duped a few times early on because I wanted insant results. In SEO, it is a marathon not a sprint.

Elyse: I have much to learn but progress is slowly being made.

Terry: I know that feeling. One day at a time!

Victoria: Helping each other helps us all!

Derrick Team: You are absolutely right. It is hard work and many either do not want to learn how to do it or do not have the time. For those that figure it out, they/we reap the rewards.

Chris: I am all about Web saturation. Blogging should only be a piece of our online strategy, not the entire strategy.

That makes me smile. Thanks Pat/Wayne.

John: It is a good way to really make a difference online.

Smart move Terry. I have my hubby to bounce things off. For things I/we/he cannot do, we pay to have done. Selling homes is the #1 priority.

Jairo: It is one of the best places to get exposure.

You betcha, Ed. Thank you for checking it out.

Mike: Just do one thing at a time, breaking it down into bite-size-chunks. If you want to improve your social media, pick one platform and work on it as much as possible for a month. Then move on to another. By the end of the year you will have a great system in place. ;-)

Lance: I hope your office finds it helpful.

I believe anyone website should be reviewed by a professional. They may not get you on first page search but people will find you.

Our brokerage has over 350 agents. Someone walked in talked to my broker he handled out a long list of agents contact etc.  My last name starts with S and I was chosen.   It took a while to realize most agents do not maintain a website presence. The company wide was cookie cutter.... Mine stood out. It was the most expensive residence I have done. My investment pays.

When I teach classes and touch on SEO, many agents don't think they need it.  Then, I ask when is the last time they Googled a product or service and bought it from someone they never heard of before.  (restaurant, appliance repair, etc.).  Most of them don't even have official websites but can be found thanks to proper SEO.

Kudos to you for investing in yourself, Sam. Having a web presence helped get you this client.

Jim: From what I see, most agents have heard about SEO but really do not have a grasp on what it means or how to leverage it.
