TOP 10 High Schools in the US and how OC Compared

As I posted on a previous blog (CLICK to see) the US News placed their yearly rankings of high schools in the US.  So here's some insight on the Orange County High Schools.

As for the infamous OC's Irvine high schools nationally rank the following:

298) University High School (#53 in California)

319) Northwood High School

343) Arnold Beckman High School (Tustin Unified-CA)

909) Woodbridge High School

1,108) Irvine High School

Wow, even though not actually part of the Irvine Unified, however located in the City of Irvine, Arnold Beckman High School (Tustin Unified-CA) ranked at 343 holding strong against the Irvine Unified Schools. GO PATRIOTS!  And if you're considering public higher learning for your children in Irvine you may want to consider Capistrano Unf., Laguna Beach Unf., Placetia-Yorba Linda Unf., and Brea-Olinda Unf. school districts especially if your residence falls into Irvine High zones.

Although Irvine's University High School is ranked 1st in Orange County here are several other high ranking OC High Schools:

359) Corona del Mar High School (Newpot-Mesa Unf.-CA)

376) Orange Count School of the Arts (Santa Ana Unf.-CA)

504) Troy High School (Fullerton Joint Union High-CA)

550) Sunny Hills High School (Fullerton Joint Union High-CA)

564) Laguna Beach High School (Laguna Beach Unf.-CA)

"... and there's need for a "gold star sticker" recognition after the 550ish national ranking mark."

Well it goes to show that in Orange County's Irvine has some competition but does not match up with Los Angeles County in overall ranking.

And just a FYI for comparison to the above information here's the TOP 10 High Schools in the US.  Here's the ranking from the 2013-14's school year by US NEWS:

1) School for the Talented and Gifted (Dallas Independent School District-TX)

2) BASIS Scottsdale (BASIS Schools Inc.-AZ)

3) Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (Fairfax County Public Schools-VA)

4) Gwinete Schol of Mathmatics, Science and Technology (Gwinnett Couny Public Schools-GA)

5) School of Science and Engineering Magnet (Dallas Independent School District-TX)

6) Carnegie Vanguard High School (Houston Independent School District-TX)

7) Acadmic Maget High School (Charleston County School District-SC)

8) University High School (Tolleson Union High School District-AZ)

9) Lamar Academy (Mcallen Independent School District-TX)

10) Glbert Classical Academy High (Gerbert Unified District-AZ)

And Texas takes the lead with 4 followed by Arizona with 3 and California is not even on the boards.  As for us Californians we show up only 8 times in the TOP 50.
