Mission Viejo Dog Park - La Paws Dog Park

La Paws Dog Park

The recently opened La Paws Dog Park is located 25100 Felipe Road near La Paz  Road and next to the baseball fields at Gilleran Park.

Named for its proximity to La Paz Road, the park is divided into three fenced areas; one for large dogs, one for small canines and another for single owner/family dogs. There is a graded pathway around the entire 3 acre dog park area where visitors can stroll around the entire park and take in the views of the canyon and the Saddleback Mountains.

This is the place were dogs can run around, chase a ball, languish in the shade, run around and socialize with other dogs of their size. Owners can interact with their pets or simply kick back in several of the shaded benches. The dog activity areas have plenty of open grass, some small trees for shade and water fountain with spouts for the two legged animals up top and a lower spout for our four legged friends.

There's plenty of parking for about 40 cars in the gravel graded lot. The city of Mission Viejo claims the gravel allows water penetrate the ground and prevent run off into the storm drains along the street. At this time there is no restroom facilities for the two legged critters.

So bring your dogs and let them run free!

Dear John: We frequent this beautiful park quite often, but there is a woman there that seems to be there all hours of the day, and she has a vicous little dog. She has gotten into many arguments about her dog, and she tends to blame a certain BREED. Just yesterday , we witnessed her little dog pinning down 2 other BREEDS. She is very combative and has gotten into many arguments with fellow dog owners. I called the city and animal control today, and got the same answer... which was... We do not regulate the park, and it is a enter at your own risk.. What is going to happen when this dog hurts another dog or person? I find it incredibly sad that this park is getting the reputation that there are mean dogs there.. There is really only one and the woman takes no responsibility for her dog. What can we do?
