The Very Best Sales Tool Is Not Found In An App

 

Our electronic devices are very helpful in running our business, staying connected, receiving information  and communicating. We use our computers, iPads, iPhones, blogging platforms, MLS, GPS, scanners, etc..  to run our real estate careers.

Our tech tools make our lives more efficient but the real sales tool is not the latest and greatest gadget! 

 

There's Not An App For That

 

The greatest tool is your ability to receive referrals.

 

Looking back at my recent clients....most came from referrals. My plumber referred my latest seller,  a doctor (who I  knew from my previous career as an RN), my favorite waitress another, my former bookkeeper, my group of Women Business Owners, my car mechanic, my attorney and my accountant are a few more that have sent referrals my way.

 

Have I asked for referrals?  

No!

 

Have I stayed in touch and referred others to these people over the years?

Yes!

 

Referrals come from how you treat others, how you stay in touch and how others feel about you.

 

Of course my advertising, my blogging and my live radio show  help keep my pipeline full.  

But  nothing takes the place of an out of state colleague, met at a training seminar twenty years ago, who refers her best friend to me. Or a former Realtor® who now sends her friends to me.

 

 There is no app, in use, that sends quality referrals.  You need to pick up that old fashioned phone,  stay in touch, have real live conversations, be interested in others and let them know how special they are.

Think about where your clients come from.

Referrals are and for years have been a huge part of my business.  The word of mouth from former clients to new buyers and sellers kind and you're exactly right, there's no app for that.

It is easy to not pick up that phone and call people.  But referrals are definitely the life blood of long-term survival in any business.

Margaret, I'm so glad you wrote this post! Excellent! All of the gizmos in the world can't take the place of one-on-one interaction with others, who in turn send us business. Most of my business comes from referrals. I wouldn't want it any other way. When a referral comes, I automatically have something in common with the new client, and I have a starting point for building a relationship.

I couldn't agree more. There is also not an app for listening when your clients call you from a flooded basement and need to know what to do and who to call ASAP. So there is also not an app for giving referrals.
