CHANDLER ARIZONA – NEWEST (and LARGEST?) MANSIONArizona Real Estate

At 22,000 square feet, that’s a half an acre of house!

Phoenix Arizona real estateThis Oakwood Hills home will have 10,000 square feet of entertainment space including a billiard room, bar and lounge, a basketball court and showroom garages.  (Lane Bailey do you know this guy?)

The yard is “going to have a real resort feel…fire coming out of waterfalls.”  There’ll be an 80 foot slide, some place in the one-half acre pool, and eight waterfalls.  How about a 400 to 500 square foot grotto?  A cave in the yard?

Chandler Arizona homesOh, did I mention the bowling alley?

Ocotillo ConstructionEd Hibbert, owner of Ocotillo Construction said, “If there’s a bigger house in Chandler, no one knows about it.”

"It’s hidden away somewhere. In 25 or 30 years of building, I’ve never built a house this big.”

I'm thinking this home isn't going to be hidden away anywhere...

... when this house is finished, it will be the biggest in the neighborhood by several thousand square feet.

Being built on a $2 million piece of property, construction of the home will cost about $5 million and be completed in October 2009

Chandler Arizona home - entertaining guestsJames, who likes “to keep a low profile”, calls the location of his new home “a real hidden gem” and the “nicest neighborhood he’s ever been through."  James is 38, single and plans to entertain guests, in what sounds like the perfect place to do so.  (BTW, James is comparing his soon to be neighborhood to places like Malibu and Beverly Hills.)

You can read the complete article in the East Valley Tribune

Oakwood Hills is a gated community near Chandler that boasts some of the priciest homes in the Valley. The lots circle an artificial pond, complete with an island and a flock of Canadian geese.

Oakwood Hills is home to Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart and the former home of country singer Waylon Jennings.

Dalia, I am not in a position to judge, he is entitled to do as he pleases with his money.  I would probably use it in a different way if I had it.  Thanks for commenting.

Doreen - Wow---big place...You sure this isn't Hugh's home away from home?  Just kidding. I agree with Nick, perhaps we need to friendly up the chap for our  next AZ Blogging Network gathering there!  I know exactly what subdivision you are speaking of, as friends of mine bought a lot there about a year ago. Very impressive.

Nick,

OK, you now have your first assignment as a member of the Az Blogging Network.  Since he probably won't be there a lot of the time, he may not mind if a few of his close friends spend time there.

So, how soon will you be introducing him to the group?  ;^D

Stephanie,

You've got that right!  Think about keeping that pool clean, that could be a full time job during monsoon.

Thanks for visiting.

Candace, I don't know about Hugh, but if you have friends living there maybe they can arrange something.  I suppose we could go on a field trip...

Doreen... I realize I'm a little late on this but yes... you're allowed to use my photograph in this post. (For those who don't know... I'm the guy rooting for Doreen as she picks up a difficult spare.)

Doreen, Oh my goodness.  That's a large house.  I needed that when I was growing up as the baby of 16!!!  That space would have been useful.

16!!  Ray, You beat our gang by 10.  I'm the oldest of six.  The sharing of small bedrooms is all I remember.  Not sure what this guy is going to do with all the space, but, he's got it. :)

Teri, I wonder if we'll find out who he is at some point.  I think of the movie Citizen Kane when I hear about things like this.  He had all that stuff, but he didn't have himself.

Doreen, are you talking about my home again :)  Seriously though, can you imagine the summer SRP bill- crazy it is probably more than the sales price of my real house.

Pretty scary, huh.  I don't think I would want to deal with the water, electric, maintenance, any of it.  Like someone else said 'I would hate to have to clean it!'  haha

Doreen, wow. I am definitely downsizing the next time, but I can't even comprehend 22,000 sf. I don't think he's too concerned about monthly maintenance costs if he's shelling out $5,000,000 to build!

Well, I can't comprehend the size of the house, the bowling alley, bar and then add the pool, waterfalls...  Sounds like a hotel or something.  He did say he wanted a resort feel.  And I agree, sounds like he won't have a problem with maintaining the place.
