I am a native of a small community in northern New Hampshire. The town's offical name is Northumberland; many years ago an area of the town had a grove of Maple trees where a communtiy was built and people started calling this section of the town, the Grove Town which later became nicknamed Groveton, and name that still sticks today. Groveton has seen some struggles in recent years with the downturn in the economy and the closing of the local paper mills. The area is starting to regroup and has a lot to offer. We reside in the heart of the north country plenty of local mountians to climb, rivers to kayak and fish and lakes and ponds to enjoy.
This is a picture of Nash Stream last Fall and Percy's Peaks in the background. This local climb offer's beautiful area views and in August some of the best wild blueberry picking ever.
Here is part of the view from the top of Percy's Peak.
Our Comunity is home to Speedway 51 that is currently undergoing many improvements and upgrades with lots of events scheduled all summer long and into the fall, It is rumored that there will be several winter events coming our way as well. Keep posted on the events at http://www.speedway51int.com/ Here is this weeks event:
May 23 | Groveton Car Show presented by Speedway 51 and the town of Groveton, NH |
This was taken on the Connecitcut River during a kayaking day out. The moutains in the back drop are once again Percy's Peaks from a different direction. The Connecticut River offers great fishing and peaceful enjoyment. Bald Eagles are often viewed along the riverbanks as well as Moose and deer. truly an outdoor lover paradise.
The town has plenty of business opportunities avaialbe for investors at unbeleiveable prices, and homes are very reasonable as well. The communtiy is very welcoming ; the staff at the town office are very helpful and are there to answer questions and service everyone that asks for information. The current population for the town is around 2100 people. For more information visit the town website at www.northumberlandnh.weebly.com
Groveton has direct ATV and snow machine access right into the downtown area allowing outdoor enthusiast to drive into town to grab a bite to eat at our North Country Family Restaurant, Stone Pizza or Nugents & Son's or to pick up groceries at the Shop and Save.
The local Chamber of Commecre is also a wealth of information the website is www.northerngatewaychamber.org. The surrounding communities also have a lot to offer with Santa's Village, Six Gun City, the Lantern Campground, Roger's Campground, Trailside Lodge, Connolley Cabins and so much more.
