Everyday we do so many different things; most of us have responsibilities to keep up with and we don’t always make time for ourselves. Well, this is just a reminder to think about what we can do to nurture the creative side in us all. I have to admit I was hesitant to venture into a “painting” class by myself, so put it on the shelf in my mind. Then to my surprise, my daughters presented me my mother’s day gift and woolah! We were signed up for a wonderful night with the “Wine and Canvas” art class.
The class was in downtown San Diego, but they hold classes throughout the county. It was so fun! Even though I’m not much of an artist, the steps to “painting a picture” were a lot easier than I expected.
They also had the event in a restaurant, so we were able to order food, too. It was like a dinner class, just a great concept and a most enjoyable experience! I’m also glad that I was able to share it with two of my favorite people in the whole world, my daughters.

Getting back to “leaving your mark”, painting just seems like a great way to leave something behind after were gone. When my Aunt Martha was in a nursing facility, they used to have the residents paint pictures. After she left this world, her children made greeting cards from her paintings. I can’t think of anything more meaningful that made me feel closer to her. The fact that she created a picture so beautiful, even in her twilight years, just meant so much more to remember her by.
May your Memorial weekend have you reflecting on good memories of your loved ones that are with you in spirit…
