San Diego County Fair 2015 - A Fair To Remember

Friday starts one of San Diego's biggest summer attractions as the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar, CA takes over he fairgrounds. This years theme is A Fair To Remmeber - a Celebration of World's Fairs and Balboa Park. Fair organizers commemorate the centennial anniversary of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition held in Balboa Park, and the great traditions and inventions arising from fairs. (Did you know the bicycle, telephone, ice cream cone, Ferris Wheel, and air conditioning were all introduced at a World's Fair?)There's another great concert line up, Toast Of THe Coast wine festival, San Diego International Beer Festival and all the great crafts, exhibits, rides and food you can only find at the fair.

Going To The San Diego Fair On A Budget!

As much fun as the fair can be for the entire family it can also be very expensive. With a little planning you can find great deals for the entire family. If you know you are going more than once, buy a "Best Pass Ever" for $25. It gets you unlimited admissions for less than the price of going twice. Buy a "Passport To Savings" for $5 and get discounts throughout the fair. If you have children 12 and under, every Tuesday they get in free! Everyone knows getting into the fair is only 1/4 of the battle, food and ride prices add up quickly. You can bring your own lunch, with these restrictions: No alcohol, glass containers or metal knives of any kind. Beverages must be in factory-sealed containers (you may bring an empty container to fill once you have passed the security check). On the two Tuesdays the Fair is open (June 24 and July 1), from opening until 5:00PM, you can buy $2 taste-sized portions of some of your favorite Fair foods, such as corn dogs, fudge, fish tacos and cinnamon rolls. Fridays are PennySaver Value Days. The PennySaver coupon book, free with your Fair admission, is packed with over $500 in discounts, two-for-one values, and other savings from more than 60 Fair vendors. To save big $$$ on rides, purchase a wristband at the Fair at any of the Fun Zone or Kids Zone (formerly called Kiddieland) ticket booths for $35; or buy your wristband online before you come to the Fair. How to Get To The San Diego County Fair

Attendees to the San Diego County Fair In Del Mar have a few different free parking options. The Horsepark, 14550 El Camino Real, Del Mar is open everyday during the fair. You can park and take a free Double Decker Bus, which run from 9:00am to 1:00am. On weekends and July 4, shuttles run from MiraCosta College's San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Ave., Cardiff and Torrey Pines High School, 3710 Del Mar Heights Rd., Del Mar from 9:00am to 1:00am. You can bike to the fair. Bike racks are set up at the O'Brien Gate and the West Gate. You may lock your bikes at either location, using your own lock, at no charge. You can also pay for parking at the Fairgrounds. Single passenger cars and motorcycles are $10 per day, RV's $20 and preferred parking $20.
