Calgary Luxury Community: Killarney
The luxury community of Killarney, also known as Killarney/Glengarry, is located at the south west of Calgary, between 33 Ave SW and 17 Ave SW, bordered by 25A St SW on the east and 37 St SW on the west. Mature trees, preserved even with redevelopment, line the streets of Killarney.
At the southern end of the community are houses built during the 1950s, when Killarney was in the stage of completion. Affordable homes are also found at the huge townhome complex. Mid-rise apartment condominiums can be found along the commercial area at 17 Ave SW. There are more homes in Killarney built during the 1920s, and lots were offered to returning soldiers after WWII to help integrate their lives. But with the new infill homes that replaced old structures daily, the community's historic nature is disappearing.
