Where do you find an Agent to buy or purchase a home? What are the first questions you ask? Do you follow up to verify the facts that you are given?
You have decided that you want to purchase a home in ABC City, USA. Do you go to a large real estate website, like TZR.com? They are on page one of the major browsers. They must have the best information and qualified people representing them, one would hope.
What is the first question that is usually asked? "I am looking at abc123 N. Main Street and I need to know how many days it has been on the market." "Have there been any offers on the house?" "Why hasn't it sold?" "Why and where are the sellers moving?"
Yes, those are interesting facts that you may want. But, in my opinion, there are more important issues to be addressed:
1. Do you sell in this specific area?
2. How long have you been in the real estate business?
3. Do you live near this area?
4. Can you supply me a list of what you have sold in this area?
I want to have the most qualified person helping me in this very important transaction. This does not necessarily mean the person who has sold the highest dollar amount in the area. I want someone who can give me answers and back them up with facts and not hype. I want someone who is looking out for my best interest and not their ego.
Are you going to meet this agent at the destination or an office? How do you know you are not entering into a situation with a Psycho Agent? Are the listings they have on TZR.com theirs or have they just taken this information and images from the REAL Agent representing the property? What, they can't show you houses because they are too busy and don't live close?
I want a Killer Agent, not a Psycho Agent. This is my opinion, what is yours?
