Sun City is a master planned 55+ Adult community in Arizona and was built by Del Webb as the first and largest 55+ adult community in the nation.
Sun City opened in January of 1960, and is world famous for its active adult lifestyle and has set the standard for other retirement communities to emulate. The community is of course age-restricted with the requirement of one resident must be at least 55 years or older and no resident can be under the age of 19, but children are welcomed as guests for up to 90 days in any 12 month period.
Sun City is a self contained community with shopping centers, banks and restaurants offering a variety of options to choose from. Sun City is in an unincorporated part of Maricopa County so not over burdened by high taxes but with its own Fire District. The Sun City Prides is a nonprofit corporation which helps the county in keeping Sun City one of the cleanest towns in the northwest valley.
The Recreation Centers of Sun City Inc. a private corporation, is responsible for the amenities in Sun 
City which in clued 8 golf courses and 7 recreation centers each with their own heated pools and spa (one in-door) . Sun City amenities also include bowling, (one 16 lane & one 24 lane) tennis courts at 5 locations and at the newly renovated Marinette Recreation Center 20 pickleball courts (eight under permanent sun shade), so much more.
