Two Elements In Understanding Change
GET IN GEAR as they say, and MAKE IT HAPPEN, putting your own change into the world.
They say death and taxes in life are constant, so is CHANGE. We may fight change all the time, like restaurants going out of business, your favorite brand at the store disappearing, people leaving your life, new software you are forced to use at the office, Obamacare, whatever, but no doubt change pops up every day. Two elements to help thinking about this:
1) Acceptance - get to a serenity point of things out of your control that "change on you". You must do that or you will be trying to put square pegs in round holes all the time. It does not work.
2) Action - if the only REAL thing you have control over is YOU, in making things happen, not letting things happen to you, you have to DO SOMETHING. This get off the couch mentality requires effort on your part. The saying, Be the change, does not happen from you just being a dreamer. GET IN GEAR as they say, and MAKE IT HAPPEN, putting your own change into the world. STOP some behaviors, START new ones.
The first thought gives you peace of mind. The second thought gives you some semblance of a feeling of control, satisfaction, and achievement.
ACCEPT and ACTION, you may not master change, but you certainly will get a handle on it.
