Hi May,
I know it’s your last day in town and all, so I don’t want to go “full-rant” on you. You did bring some lovely weather days to many of us. That said, your bad weather days were just horrific! What’s with all the torrential rain you deluged the south with?
And for us in the north, we would have loved it if you could have picked a season and stuck with it! The almost daily back and forth weather changes from 90 degrees to the 50s to the 80s to the 60s drove us nuts.
Chicagoans really look forward to your annual visit. March and April prepare us for your arrival by melting away the last remnants of the long winter. By the time you make your appearance, we expect the colder air to be a thing of the past. We've begun to look forward to your gifts of sunny days and warmer breezes. So imagine our surprise this morning?
Really May!
Temperatures in the 30s and 40s almost a full week after Memorial Day!?
I get it, I get it. We all have our bad days. You just had a few more this year than usual. But hey, nobody's perfect. Please excuse my mini-rant during your last few hours with us. I just had to vent a little bit. Friends should be able to vent to each other once in a while, right?
As for this year and the ride we took on your weather roller-coaster, all is forgiven. Next year, I’ll be as happy for your arrival in Chicago as I’ve ever been. Even if you bring more cool weather and more rain, I’ll understand.
I won’t like it. But I’ll understand. And we'll always be friends.
See ya next year, friend!
