Don't Be a Real Estate Time Vampire
Many people believe that everything here in Toluca Lake is about swans, the staid Golf Club, the Movie Studios and the goodwill that this heady mix creates. What they don't tell you, is, that lurking in the shadows with falsely sincere looks on their faces are the Real Estate Time Vampires. Serious professsional Real Estate Agents like myself must keep a sharp eye out for these denizens of drawn-out deals, surprise emails, late night texts and random phone calls. Focused, prepared buyers and sellers of Toluca Lake properties also should take heed. At any given time when your real estate transaction seems to be going smoothly - give your Agent a pat on the back here - suddenly and without warning the phone rings and - voila!- a Time Vampire is on the other end of the line. They could be a vendor stalling on some important task or a new "client" who says they are better qualified than anyone who currently has an offer on your listing yet they haven't deigned to meet with a lender while insisting they are experienced and have great credit scores (FICO 520 total) and that you must fit them in to view the property immediately. Let's not leave out the overloaded agent that no-shows on the by-appointment-only viewing leaving you and your buyers feeling embarrassed, ripped-off schedule-wise and just plain pissed. I feel the time being sucked out of me already.
My best advice for Toluca Lake home buyers, San Fernando Valley and Hollywood Hills property sellers and reputable Real Estate Agents alike is to always follow the Golden Rule. Treat others as you would like to be treated. This is something that Time Vampires don't understand, and the power of the Golden Rule acts like a sure-fire repellent to them. They will simply move on to the next, more vulnerable victim and stick their fangs right in. Not me anymore, though - I just don't have the time.
