It's very likely that as the summer begins to hit with the full force of its sun rays, we immediately turn to A/C to answer our temperature issues. Little do we consider one of the major underlying contributors to our home's temperature issues; our windows and doors.
The problem with most doors and windows (especially older ones) is that they do not really provide maximum insulative qualities. Older doors and windows begin to lose their original stability and you'll often notice that they are not as squared and seamless as they once were. Cracks will pretty much always develop over time, and if the windows and doors are made of wood; the wood will experience degradation over the years – as it is subjected to extreme variations in temperatures and lots of moisture during the rainy season. Even metal windows and doors will have problems after enough time. Seals will succumb to wear and tear, as rubber is only made to last for so long.
