Good Morning everyone! I hope you 've had a wonderful weekend, I did!!!

Today I came across a nice little story about Helena, MT (capital).

Helena, Montana's state capital, was founded on Oct 30th, 1864 after four Georgia miners discovered gold in Last Chance Creek. After searching desperately across western Montana for the precious metal, the four Georgians finally struck it rich in the creek's cold waters.

They named the area Last Chance Gulch after deciding on July 14, 1864 to take one last chance at finding gold before heading home.

Like any early Montana mining towns, Helena boomed following the discovery of gold. The city was originaly named Crabtown, after John Crab, one of the Georgians who discovered gold at Last Chance Gulch. Before long, business and residents flocked to area. By the turn of the century over 3,000 people called Helena home. Fifty millionaires, more than any other city in the world, lived in Helena by 1888.

Last Chance Gulch produced a staggering amount of gold over a 20 year period. The take would be valued at more than $3.6 billion by today's prices. Last Chance Gulch grew rapidly to became Helena's main street and commercial center. The area now futures a public walkway with a variety of shops and restaurants.

Outdoors concerts are held at Last Chance Gulch during the summer months.
