Seems like selling real estate and the Avian Flu couldn't be further from each other. But, there's a link and it is not a good one. My brokerage is in the middle of the avian flu oubreak in Iowa. We are beginning to feel the hurt from people being laid off at the plants, truck drivers and farm workers are experiencing reduced hours or are being laid off.
Three weeks ago we lost a sale becaause the buyer was a truck driver, he had just had his hours drastically reduced, he could not qualify for his loan. We are also seeing people who are receiving unemployment having problems making their mortgage payments.
If there is one thing I am learning in this business (Realtor for 10 years, Broker Owner for 5), it is that it is never consistient. Be Prepared, for anything, everything, and for the long haul, diversify if you have other abilities.
I pray that this will be a wake up call to so many people to begin to save, to get your financial houses in order. Do not live day to day! Who needs that kind of stress and weight??? Have an emergency fund, not a few hundred dollars more like 6 months of expenses in a safe place. Actually a good practive for everyone, whether you are in a crisis or not. If you are breathing, you will experience trouble, it is not an if it is a when.
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Please pray for our area and the people who are impaceted and going to be impacted by the ripple effect of this disease.
