The 606

What is the 606? It is the last three digits of the zip code of Chicago's news 2.7 mile recreational path that is just opening. It used to be the Bloomingdale Trail Rail line that was just converted to a great space for bike riding, jogging and just a nice walk. The Logan Square neighborhood needed 99 more acres of open space according to city regulations so Chicago formed "Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail", an organization whose vision and mission were key to creating The 606.

You can read more about it at the 606 web site. You will find this very interesting. I can't wait to go check it out and go for a hike. We made a deal that long walks are going to be a way to get in shape and enjoy the outdoors and take some photos of nature. What more can I say? Here is a great video to watch, I hope you are as excited as I am and let me know if you want to go for a walk.

Noah, I agree I love it when cities set aside green spaces look at London, NYC and Paris. It makes a place very livable! I hope you are having  agreaet weekend!

Noah this is a great idea, I wish we had something like the 606 around here.  If we did I might even take up doing more walking.

Larry really appreciates someone who gets his jokes Noah, so thank you for that...I am way to literal and always try to figure out what he is trying to say. He says it looses something.

I just finished reading about a local neighborhood which is being rejuvenated by the time & money the city has spent re-doing the park, AND the commitment of the local commuity.

Parks, trails, runs, bike paths are valuable resources.

Nice to see Chicago has figured that out.

This is great for the neighborhood, the more parks and recreation the better.

It is nice that they actually open a new park. What a great news!

Most of the time, we hear bad news that they close parks to create a new development or a parking lot.

Another park in Chicago.   We travel often to the city to visit one of our daughters and family.  Used to live in Lincoln Park but now in Hinsdale.  Always enjoy walking and dining and good music in Chicago.

Hi Noah, how awesome for Chicago!  I'm seeing more parks opening in cities, walking, jogging, hiking are all good and much needed.

I think if you walk the trail you might smell food from Rick Bayless house as his home is near there. Rick Bayless is the owner of the Frontera Grill and has a TV Show on PBS.

Noah, I hope I get a chance to check it out on my next visit to Chicago. I'm going to ask a buddy of mine who doesn't live too far from there how he likes it.

You are going to love being a frequent user of the park Noah. It will dip into your beach time though.
