Why Are Some Homeowners Arrogant About Building Codes
Hi Ginny. Why are they arrogant? Stupid comes to mind. Dumb, dumber and a real jerk works.

That's a shame. A waste of a good site and what a waste of money to build it (and then to possibly tear it down).

That sounds like it is a beautiful home. I am sorry that the builders did not get the permits and built the house.

Good morning Ginny,
OMG this out of state homeowner was not given good guidance and just paid a huge price for his arrogance! Stupid comes to mind but I wonder who can force him to take it down?

I hear it was truly arrogance & ignoring sound advice & Dorie Dillard it is still standing so he must be paying the taxes on it because there would have been a tax sale by now!
Ginny arrogance may have been involved, and turned into stupidity on the owners part. But you would thing after all these years, this owner and the town would have come up with a way to work together. When egos are involved, common sense seems to disappear.

Good morning Ginny. The codes, especially the coastline areas of RI are very tough, I know firsthand as I have flipped a couple of houses, but if you follow the rules, it all works out.

Some people love to do things their way. Interesting results!

I find that most municipalities and other governing agencies are willing to offer alternatives if allowed to explain their position. Butting heads just gives the affected parties a headache and in this case a stoppage. Environmental or safety issues will win out every time. Building Codes are implemented for ALL of us and not meant to limit any individual's rights.

Ginny: Some folks have to learn things the hard way. What a waste of time, resources, and a beautiful view!

Ginny, what a huge waste of money, and sad to think they can not live there just because he could not abide by the rules.
A lot of people think they are entitled to a specific home at a specific time but don't realize the consequences.
I guess it could be sad but all the same informative all at once, you know? Joan Cox
It is why I like doing things one time only, the right way, and follow the rules as set out. Sometimes you don't agree with them but the results can bankrupt you.
Because they just want it done their way and willing to face to consequences sometimes knowingly sometimes not!!!
