7 Real Estate Memes Every Agent Can Relate To

Services for Real Estate Pros with Jessica Cates Creative

Everyone loves a good real estate meme - and there are hundreds of them floating around the internet. Today, I'm going to share a few favorites that all agents can relate to - but first, I'm going to teach you something...

Where did the word meme come from?

According to an excerpt from todayifoundout.com:

“Meme” was coined by the often controversial evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book, The Selfish Gene.  In it, he states the following:

We need a name for the new replicator, a noun that conveys the idea of a unit of cultural transmission, or a unit of imitation. ‘Mimeme’ comes from a suitable Greek root, but I want a monosyllable that sounds a bit like ‘gene’. I hope my classicist friends will forgive me if I abbreviate mimeme to meme.

Today's definition: meme -- mēm/noun

a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc. that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.

Now, on to the real estate memes (all found here):

  1. When new buyers are in a rush to start touring houses...

  2. When you ask for the same paperwork a dozen times...

  3. When your broker notices something is missing...

  4. When you imagine how someone decides to sell their own home...

  5. When you get a little creative with your listing description...

  6. When your buyers don't understand how to manage finances during escrow...

  7. When you're working with overly-optimistic sellers...
