I Had THREE Choices

I Had THREE Choices

I had three choices...ignore the problem, complain about it OR take action. What was the problem? Our wireless Internet connection was slower than usual. Websites were taking what seemed like forever to load.

On Day One, I more or less ignored the problem. It was annoying, but I was hoping it was a temporary problem, perhaps caused by the daily storms we seemed to be having. If the screens took too long for my patience, I would just walk away from my laptop and do something else. I chose to IGNORE the problem.

When my husband came home today (Day Two) and settled down at his laptop to do some work he found a slow connection. Of course, I was experiencing the same. I was still chosing to IGNORE the problem and more or less except it. My husband, on the other hand was NOT having it.

He chose option number #2 and began to COMPLAIN. Upon hearing him, I decided it was time for option number three, TAKE ACTION. After spending 2 days ignoring the problem, I didn't have the patience to listen to him COMPLAIN. I called our Internet provider and spent a good 30-40 minutes on the phone, but I got the issue solved.

What did I learn today? The best option is generally to TAKE ACTION. I'm not a huge fan of spending time trouble shooting on the phone with a service provider, but it resolved the problem. Next time I'll make the call.

Donna, We tend to ignore when we just don't want to deal with things ... but as you know, ignoring does not fix the issues. Glad you got the slow internet connection resolved.

Some times the squeaky wheel does get the oil.... So we have to speak up and get what we need.

Donna, yep you are correct.. However, I have had issues with Comcast where they out sourced installing a new modem in our home to me. Six plus hours on the phone with these idiots on 3 consecutive nights is what it took for this simple replace old modem with new to actually work. I was out of my mind trying to get this solved. Now I hesitate anytime I have to deal with these fools. Other suppliers here are even worse if you believe that.. If you call tech support you get some total fool who lives in SA Asia and does not really speak or understand English very well.

Patricia, you make an excellent point. Ignoring the problem doesn't resolve it.

Kathleen, ignorance is NOT bliss!

Sussie, in this case, it was really Rich that was the squeaky wheel. He got my attention!

Margaret, I've still got a strong Internet connection. Makes life and business much easier!

Bob, both reps at Comcast that I spoke with spoke much too fast. I was constantly asking them to repeat what they said.

Tammy, he was VERY squeaky!

A little tip for net time. Start by disconnecting the modem and router if you have one. Wait about 2 minutes. Then plug everything back in. May save you some hold time on the phone waiting for tech support. Restart computer also. Another question is how old is modem and router. They just don't last forever.

Thanks Lou.

I'm glad you got the issue fixed.  The internet company has programs running on their system that tells them when the signal is strong and weak, so they already know this.  What they don't do, is hire someone to sit there and watch it and then call you to trouble shoot with you.  That is why the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Evelyn~ Thankfully I don't have to call them too often.

I was hoping for that Debbie, but no dice!

It was worth the effort, Kat. Hubby was happy and the Internet was faster.

Toni, unfortunately, they don't just go away! Drat!

Sharon~ Ugh! Haven't had any cell phone or cell service issues. (Knock on wood!)
