Real Estate Tomato interviews ActiveRain CEO, Matt Heaton

By
Real Estate Technology with ActiveRain

Screenshot of real estate tomato blogLast week Jim Cronin of the Real Estate Tomato interviewed ActiveRain CEO, Matt Heaton.  The resulting of that write-up can now be found here on the Real Estate Tomato blog.  The interview was done as an informal phone conversation and Matt's responses to the questions were transcribed unedited, almost word for word.

Ok, enough of trying to speak in 3rd person...

I think Jim's interview style really helped to create some great results.  He's also a very good writer, if you read some of his other material on the Real Estate Tomato, some of which he has also posted on ActiveRain.  He definitely doesn't shy away from controversial subjects and seams pretty talented at getting a response out of his readers. I talked to him a bit about what his future plans were for the Real Estate Tomato and like us he has some pretty ambitious plans, trying to create a great informational/news source for those in the real estate industry, using dozens of guest writers.

The link for "here" is not working for me.  I just get a notice that you can't access the page.

Matt added an extra "http://" in the link.  You can just click on the RET link above and it's currently the second article or click here.

One of the things that Active Rain does (indirectly) is provides a forum for the "back-story" of its members.

Marketing materials can be slick and polished... but how often do we wish that the people we were marketing our services to knew the REAL story of just who we really are. Because of this social network, over time by writing genuine and authentic blogs, people will know and connect to us as real PEOPLE that work as professionals in Real Estate.

Jim, I don't know if you took your lead from Matt, but you did a great job of revealing more about the REAL Person that created this amazing site and his passion and commitment to the industry to make it better.

BRAVO JIM! Great idea! Well done piece.

Looks like a bit of the thunder was stolen for my intended post Monday morning... but I will go about it anyhow... I'm sure the content will be interesting to those that missed it this weekend.

Craig-  The interview had an outline of questions that I had set put to ask... however, when Matt was explaining his interest in creating a destination for the consumer as well as the agent I knew we were tapping into something very exciting.  On top of that, he explained how he is looking to break down the barriers that have been created by your typical lead generation company, by creating a place where the online relationship between agent and client is forged, not forced.  That I believe is going to be the ultimate value for AR's success.

I hate tomatoes. Who was it that said a tomato isn't finished on the inside. That's so true. there's all that gooey stuff in them, and those little seeds...

Oh wait. We're not talking about tomatoes the vegetables (or are they fruits?).

The RE Tomato is a *great* blog. One of the finest. The interview with Matt was very well done.

Jay and Francy,

Did you have a chance to check out my Why Tomato? section of the Real Estate Tomato?

It goes right in line with your comments:

Why Tomato?

Tomato is the unfinished fruit.  Ripe, round, red and attractive on the outside, but somewhat amorphous and liquidy on the inside; versatile and tasty; a symbol of growth and production and a projectile of disgust.  All these elements define our aim with the Real Estate Tomato as we look to enlighten, encourage and entertain Realtors throughout the world.

Thanks for reading!
