Henderson's Best Eats- Our Favorite Dining Spots

As a Las Vegas/ Henderson local, it has me wondering about some of your favorite dining spots...

Dining in Henderson Nevada has its unique moments. Since the Las Vegas Strip is located a few minutes away, it allows residents to have a choice to dine at some of the finest restaurants globally, however most want to avoid its traffic jams and mobs of tourists. So a majority of Henderson residents are always eager to come upon a great place to eat. Chain restaurants can work well but for other occasions it is nice to have the diversity of a great hole in the wall or mom and pop eatery.

If you are looking for dinner that tastes like a home cooked meal, try Bernard’s Bistro located on Sunset Road, near north Valley Verde Drive. The atmosphere is relaxing with supreme service, affordable prices, a versatile wine selection and they offer daily specials. They prepare a simple, yet unbelievably tasty meatloaf and mashed potatoes. If your palate desires a more unique dish, try their chicken and mushroom crepes topped with a light tarragon sauce. This charming restaurant is 100% delicious and you will find yourself returning for more meals.

The Omelete House will remind many of places that they grew up with back home as children. While their décor is slightly outdated, don’t let it turn you away from their fantastic food. They make a delicious breakfast or lunch and serve a mountain load of potatoes that are to die for. They are also totally professional when it comes to cooking up a variety of omelets like their Cowboy or chili style, and they are huge so you might need to ask for a box to take the leftovers home. Don’t forget to try their other traditional breakfast items such as French toast topped with cream and blue berries. Open from 7 am to 3 pm, it is located on north Boulder Highway. The dining area can become slightly crowded around lunchtime, but the service is usually fast with reasonable prices and large portions. They also whip up an innovative and delicious pastrami burger with potatoes and make amazing home-made bread like carrot, banana nut or pumpkin.

For traditional NYC style pizza, Joeys NY Pizza will definitely be worth the trip over to Eastern Avenue (between Langlade Avenue and Skagit Court). This restaurant is not fancy but they make one of the best slices of pizza in Henderson, particularly the thin crust topped with juicy sausage (they also offer regular crust). The service is friendly, efficient and don’t leave without trying their garlic bread balls and cheese calzones! They also serve great sandwiches with equally fresh and delicious bread, particularly their sausage with pepper and onions.

If you ever need to bring out of state visitors to a unique restaurant away from the massive Strip crowds, stop at Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ which sits on Village Walk Drive in The District of Green Valley Ranch. The meals all start out with biscuits which are topped with sugar and they are incredible when you top them with their honey butter. Lucille’s offers a vast menu, reasonable prices, outdoor seating (when the weather is not too hot) and are great for a family because of the variety of dishes served as most will please anyone. Besides amazing side dishes, they prepare a large and delicious smokehouse burger, pork link sandwich with coleslaw and meaty beef ribs that are not overly smoky tasting, simply perfect! The tables are full of several types of sauces and do not be afraid to mix them up since they are actually all equally flavorful. The dining experience at Lucille’s gets high marks for their service and food.
