Online Marketing - What Gets Your Gold Star? No Star?

Real Estate Agent with ColdwellBanker SSK Realtors ~ 478.960.8055

Nearly half way through the year we should all have a very good idea what aspects of our online marketing are working and which items have not netted any new business.

Regardless of the methodology you employ, there are sure to be some winners and losers on your real estate happens to us all!

Trial and error, educated guess, tried and true methods, conservative or progressive, paid or free, etc.

Real Estate Tips

What is working well for you this year or what has been a complete bust?

We all want to know what brings in the clients or is not producing results for others in our profession...Please share so we can learn from your wisdom!

For me, content curation on a variety of social sites has been a huge success this year both in terms of gaining new business and opening up new avenues to collaborate with other progressive online marketers.

Content curation on our facebook page has done wonders for us.  AR and website slacking a little. Most of my business this year has been from referrals from past clients, Mandi and my lender.

Our social media presence has doubled in the last year thanks to our contest strategy. We pair with local businesses & giveaway gift cards, gift baskets etc in order to build our social media audience and email lists. SEO has been a struggle as "real estate" keywords are very competitive in our market. Despite the SEO struggles our organic traffic and overall web traffic has doubled since we rolled out our new website last July. We blog 2-3 times a week & when we promote those blogs on Facebook we see HUGE spikes in web traffic. We have pulled out of print advertising almost completely and are focusing most of our advertising dollars on SEO, Facebook advertising and Google AdWords

Hi Anita, we haven't done much online this year (not be choice). I read through some of the comments and I'm noticing that online is just a small part of lead generation. Sphere of influence, past clients and referrals still rates #1.

Anita - great post.  I pay for a lot of online exposure, however, not sure it is really paying off for me.  Always get one or two good leads a year from Trulia or Zillow - enough to cover the cost.  I  have always wanted to blog more but...just have been too busy.  Really need to rethink my online spend. I have a website but...not where I want it to be.   I have gotten leads from postcard marketing.

While many of the social media sites garner great reviews regarding lead capture and visibility, Anita Clark  ... a pleasant surprise for me has been Pinterest.  I get views, hits, inquiries as a result of my participation far more than I would have thought.  Visuals makes a difference, no doubt about it ...

Anita - what has worked well with me is my blog posts to Linked In groups.  It works for me because I am B to B.  I think I have also had success with Facebook Ads pointing to seminars on my web site.

My IDX seems to be pulling in lots of leads for me but they are weak.  When they google a property I frequently show up on page 1 or 2.  So I get lots of those kind of calls.  I am working on doing some facebook ads later this year.

Donna: It really depends on what our focus is. Online marketing brings a lot of new business my way.

Ann: An honest assessment...while it can be difficult to find the time, more blogging (especially the focused kind) can pay big dividends.

Kim/David: That is where many struggle. Too much means burn out and not enough can mean wasted effort.

Paru: I do like to try new things...some work well and a few are misses.

Gene: That is great news. Pinterest can be a wonderful option to generate new clients.

Grant: That makes perfect sense for B to B. Good information...thanks.

Gene: Getting found is you just need to tweak to get more buy/sell ready consumers to call.

As much as I want to focus on Internet marketing, I still am way behind, Anita Clark - may be, I need a VA or someone who can take it over from me....

Just finished a couple of CRS classes about social media and online marketing, and working on a plan now to be more consistent in the 2nd half of 2015. Two big parts of that are curation and having a specific, written content schedule that includes topics and post frequency.

Hiring a VA is a smart option if you have specific tasks in mind. What worked for me was cutting back to 5 days a week with my gave me a LOT more time for other marketing.

Very smart approach that should net results, John.
