Great news for low income families and individuals. Retired Miami Heat star, winner of the NBA defensive player of the year award 1998-1999 and Vice Presdient of player programs and developent, Alonzo Mourning has developed an affordable housing project in Overtown, Florida. "Midrise Courtside Family Apartments" recieved 21 Million dollars in financing in April. The first phase of the project is a 22.8 Million dollar, 84 unit project that will include a computer lab, basketball court, playground, gym and library.
How will the project work to provide housing for low income individuals and families? Eleven percent of the units will be set aside for extremely low income and the remaning 89 percent will be for those with less than 60 percent of the area median income.
