I'm really not sure if I should be laughing or a little miffed. You may detect a note of .... sour grapes too, sorry about that.
Apparently I had a 15 minutes of fame moment, only I wasn't told it was coming, and I guess no one else knew up front either. I was told about it way after the fact in a very nonchalant way, via an email that said... "recognize anyone"?
I have learned a few things along the way about blogging and social media. Our soon to be again very own Bob Stewart taught me way back when...
Ask the right question, answer it, then make sure you have a call to action.
Thank you Bob... that got me the 15 minutes of fame I didn't know about.
And others have taught me the importance of blowing the hell out of your own horn for the work you do, the knowledge you possess. After all, potential clients need to know you know what you are doing!
And let's face it, a pat on the back ain't bad either. Recognition is a good thing.
Oh, you want to know about my 15 minutes of fame? Sure... glad SOMEONE asked....
Apparently Hubspot came to my company to speak with agents about generating more leads via inbound marketing. I am a bit vague on this though, because again, I wasn't told anything. I also believe that they were targeting the under 40 crowd in my particular company, perhaps why I wasn't aware. I am a bit on the other side of the 40 line. Just a tad.... Not sure.... I haven't gotten any real responses yet as to what it was all about.
But... they did a presentation and there I was. A screen shot of a post I wrote on ActiveRain about what a buyer can expect from a home inspection. They were pleased with what I wrote, apparently. Hubspot said:
"Andrea has... answered one of her FAQ's, written the content for potential home buyers and provided a call to action about her marketing program."
Hubspot chose me, and one other BHHS agent from California to highlight. Wonder if he knew.
No one from Hubspot called me to tell, ask, etc. No one from my own company called me to say... "great job Andrea". Other than that one email I got from my office leader with a link to the slide show saying "recognize anyone?". She didn't know before hand, and I am not quite sure how she found out unless she was at this seminar.
My 15 minutes of fame... gone.... no one even noticed.
I hope to get more information about this so I can use it myself in my own self promotion. I am waiting for the answers as to what this is, have I been highlighted all over the country with other BHHS affiliates, etc.
But aside from the sour grapes I am feeling right now, I really do want to thank Bob Stewart and all the others that taught me well.
Ask AND answer the question they want to know the answer to, make sure you know who you are writing to, then provide a very clear call to action on your post.
