One of the hardest concepts to accept is about to be presented to you. It is simple in delivery and rich in growth opportunity but also provides fuel for any smoldering fire within the self. It has been around since the fall of man and has progressed and made itself at home within people! It has the perfect camouflage too
THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SIGHTED
IT'S YOU! What an incredible statement to make to someone especially if they need to hear it and specifically if they don't. It comes up in the bible two distinct times which makes one take note just for the story value alone. The first example is when Adam fell from grace via disobedience and hid out in some Fig Trees...Hid from whom? How can you hide from yourself? Is the first lesson here
YOU & HER SET ME UP?
Then, God inquires and activates the conversation to spur along the obvious events. Adam, why are you hiding? I am Naked. Who told you this? Have you eaten from the tree I told you not to? Adam says...The women who YOU gave me told me to do so...The second lesson here. It wasn't Adam but others are the problem?
COMEUPPANCE A COMING
In another example, we have the prophet Nathan talking with King David who is literally out of control. He has committed murder, adultery and lies plus other things. Kings can do what they want when they want. The prophet says, ya gotta a minute? I need to get your counsel on something that requires your abilities, talents and skills as a judge.
THE CHICKEN COMES HOME
The prophet tells him a story about a selfish man who despite having other choices and many qualities of life decides to take advantage of the only one choice and comfort another man has because he can do so. The story is rich with details. King David hears this, becomes activated and says. The man in the story must die for what he did! The prophet says...YOU are that man and explains it in detail. A good lesson in accountability
WHEN THINGS DON'T GO RIGHT
Lets be clear. Of course there are many dynamics going on that involves others to be sure. But, we want to explore is the part we play or do not play and make the necessary connections and then corrections. Going outside of the self is fine providing we bring it all back home to ourselves for an accounting
COMPLAINING ABOUT OTHERS?
My children, friends, neighbors and family have heard me say over the years the same dynamic which is simply this. Look first at your part for what is in play could not have developed along without you whatever the situation is. We either over-reacted, under-reacted of didn't show up at all.
DOWNWARD SPIRAL
The inclination of the human nature is to blame and deny while judging and it goes to work almost immediately even over-taking ones common senses when it does. If one doesn't maintain an open mind and seek objectivity, you get caught up in an emotional swirl like a whirlpool.
REPENTANCE
I have had many people share with me after they have calmed down, come to their senses and were willing to LOOK at themselves that it was them and they saw enough to occupy themselves for quite a while involving self-improvement, change and growth. Repent means to "change" in the Greek ..btw
START WITH YOU
It is not the most pleasant subject to approach, but doctors, lawyers, accountants, employers, parents, siblings, family, friends and neighbors will all tell you the same thing which is your part and how it has affected them assuming there is a rift, lack of connection or an indifference. Start with YOU works!
RESOLVE YOURSELF
The temptation to argue, accuse, and even point out otherwise when approached is so strong that forward movement, advancement, sharing and forgiveness as well as even applying the least considerations just instantly shuts down the opportunity to create and redirect the circumstances and issues to where they should go. Resolution awaits if we go there
REWARDING BEHAVIOR
It is interesting to note that we have all our lives to address this but many spend that time foolishly and lose gains that can change your life for the better if one was to let them in and capitalize on the life lessons being presented. Bad behavior is never rewarded and the Universe teaches this well
GUYS...LISTEN UP
Back to our earlier examples to close the point. Adam was told before hand...DON'T! He failed to listen and consequences kicked in. If had listened, the story goes in an entirely different direction. On King David, who had absolute power that corrupted him absolutely, his legacy would have been different too
WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
Run from this and there is no where to hide and running faster only makes it keep up with you. Stop, look at it, and seek the part where YOU can change and then your next growth episode in life awaits. Fail to take responsibility and you will visit with what you avoided again and again
