Carlsbad Conserves Water
How About You?
The California drought is big news and has been for some time. With more stringent restrictions in place to conserve water, especially irrigation, many people and businesses are doing what they can to reduce their water usage.
We are now in a Stage 2 "Drought Alert" which means mandatory restrictions for residents and businesses. Obviously additional voluntary measure to help are a bonus.
No doubt more can be done to encourage, and maybe enforce, adherance to these restrictions, especially on the irrigation side - people watering multiple times per weeks, borker sprinklers, water flowing down the road. I know of some people who have been reported to their HOAs for not following the current restrictions in Carlsbad.
Here are the revised water use rules in Carlsbad
The City of Carlsbad, in addition to making its own improvements to save water (e.g., installing water-saving fixtures, tearing out turf, and expanding the water recycling program), is encouraging residents to join the water saving campaign and use the Carlsbad Conserves signs to let others know they are doing what they can to save water.
These free signs are available at several locations - I just got mine at the Georgine Cole Library in Carlsbad Village:
City of Carlsbad Senior Center
799 Pine Ave.
City of Carlsbad Faraday Administration Center
1635 Faraday Ave.
Georgina Cole Library
1250 Carlsbad Village Drive
Of course one question that comes up is...who pays for these signs? And are they recyclable?
