First, let me offer a hearty "Congratulations!" to Ben Kinney for purchase of ActiveRain. I will admit that I was surprised to see this news, but it was a pleasant surprise, unlike the jarring news when Trulia first acquired AR a while back.
I started on AR back in 2006-07, which some here would consider the "glory days". I think there were around I was VERY prolific, almost never missing an opportunity to post 10 times weekly, and those were rarely short posts. I wonder how many words I have composed here. Probably enough to eclipse "War and Peace" at this point.
I still get calls and numerous referrals from stuff I posted 6-8 years ago. I probably average two or three referrals per month from friends I made here on AR initially.
Needless to say, I am grateful for this platform. I have made many, many friends in the industry, most of whom are in other cities and states.
Recently, I was able to help a good friend from church to find the right agent in California to help with their needs. As a result, I will be receiving a $10,000+ referral check in the next month or two. Not too shabby.
I was very happy to see that AR in on a standalone domain again, rather than the one with "trulia" in the middle of the URL.
I was also excited to see that my friend Bob Stewart is returning to help run things. I remember being interviewed by Bob at a Raincamp in December 2010. Those videos are still on YouTube, although the audio isn't the best. :) Welcome back, Bob!
Before I went up on the stage to chat with Bob that day, Ben Kinney played this video, and gave me a stellar introduction, stating that I was someone who really "does it": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU7Y6HiLXto. Tough not to like that.
At any rate, I just wanted to share some initial thoughts about this latest change.
Who knows? I might even start blogging regularly again.
