Way to go Mr. New Knees.....that's pretty damn encouraging news. Very happy you are progressing so well. I'm having the left one done on Monday and the right one three weeks later.

Wow. 2 knees at once - awesome, tough guy.
Words of wisdom, thanks. We miss a lot if we don't look ahead.

Tom,
Walking is so great for both the mind and the body. As time progresses, I am sure you will be more surefooted and not look down. Think of Billy Jean King who had both knees replaced like you, and is playing tennis everyday now. A

Dick Greenberg , I keep working it. Having confidence in the next step--whatever that might be, is huge.
I know you have a great attitude, Roger D. Mucci ! I'll be thinking about you and praying for you on Monday.
Virginia, we all get caught up in the process. Got to smell the roses.
I love walking, Ron and Alexandra Seigel . I can now do it without much discomfort...still a ways to go, but getting there!
Tom I can relate in a small way - in comparison to having 2 knees done like you. I'm glad that you're able to walk and ponder - and get stronger as the days go by. Soon you'll forget you had surgery and will walk with easy. Until then taking it easy is smart....I get that after a broken foot last year!
As for enjoying my clients? I truly do enjoy them and the process. They're what's most important - all the rest comes afterwards. Met a lovely couple this morning ( An AR referral BTW) and we had great fun looking at homes.
Good to see you in the Rain! All the best coming your way buddy!!

Tom- so glad to see you here, and glad to see that you're progressing. I loved your analogy today. We can spend so much time focusing on the pebbles in our path that we forget to enjoy the journey.

I remember your foot episode, Anna Banana Kruchten - AZ Top Banana of Real Estate! Not a favorite memory I'm sure. Just the other day Tammie and I were showing a few homes to a very cool couple and the wife had a very beautiful Southern accent. We looked into a bathroom that had the worst wallpaper I have ever seen and she said, "Sweet Jesus, would you look at that!" It had me laughing so hard I was crying! Gosh that was fun!
Both Tammie and I have been crazy busy, Kathy Streib ...but I can't use that as an excuse for my absence from AR. Trying to get back on the horse is surprisingly difficult! I'm working it!

Good morning Tom. Thank you for sharing your post. It just means a bit more careful than before, but there will be some missteps, both personally and in business. Remember, "if you trip, just make it part of the dance".

Tom recovery is not easy and to do both knees...you are braver than me....the moment there is no Joy in the Journey that is one needs to stop and get out of the way...that is how I see it. Have a Happy 4th of July, Endre

Good morning, Tom White having both knees done at once is "superman" style.... congratulations.... and it's often very difficult to enjoy the moment with clients ...we are always thinking ahead.... it's part of the mental training for this job... but make sure you DO watch every step YOU take with those new knees...

Glad you're doing so well and walking again. I know it's a great feeling. And, yes, I'm noticing all things that I never noticed before. And, I think about safety and ease of walking. It actually helps me in my job at times.

Good morning Tom White,
So glad to hear you are doing so well. Two knees at once is quite an accomplishment. Loved your analogy as it is so true...yes I do find joy in the journey when working with my clients..its what fuels my desire for the clients I serve.

Good morning Tom. Your point is well made but I undertand. After my accident about two years ago and two subsequent surgeries, I too watch where I am walking.

I got a bit of a chuckle out of your comment, Joe Petrowsky ! I'm a lousy dancer!
I couldn't agee with you more, Endre Barath, Jr. ! Sometimes you have to just relax and enjoy some of the crazy things that happen to us.
Kathy Streib , thank you so much for featuring my post! It was an ah-ha moment for me.
I know what you're talking about, Barbara Todaro . We've been working with one particular client who is a pain in the ___. Hard to find the humor there, but thankfully we have other clients who appreciate life's little quirks.
I suppose I'll always be a little more conscious of missteps, Debbie Gartner . But...I sure do like the fact I can actually walk two miles!
Hi Dorie Dillard, I couldn't do what we do if it was a constant drudge. Yes, it certainly motivates you to bring them some joy in the journey! Thanks, I hadn't really thought of it quite that way...
Being careful is just smart, Sheila Anderson!

Yes, me, too. Over the last few weeks, I've seen some past customers and realtors that I met w/ when I couldn't walk. It's been very cool.

Good morning Tom. I'm sorry I missed this post the first time around but Kathy highlighted it! I catch myself all the time worrying about the ground in front of me instead of enjoying my surroundings. I'm a worrier by nature. I've gotten a lot better over the years but still have some way to go.

My road is a little different from yours, but yes... I still enjoy the journey!

Looking back now, I'm glad most of it is behind me, Debbie Gartner! I'm sure you're thinking the same thing.
I have to admit, sometimes I just miss stuff, Michael Jacobs!
Kathy does a great job with her list. It's great to be part of it on occasion, Kristin Johnston, Waukesha Realtor 414-254-6647.
I'm a big time worrier Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert ---I'm sorry to say. I know I shouldn't be anxious about anything but it's easier said than done...
I've been blessed in my Journey, Marte Cliff ! You're right, everyone's road is different.

Tom, hey! I do that, too. Around here it's not so much potholes but uneven concrete sidewalks with trip hazards. So far, I haven't fallen - don't want to mess up my knee guy's brilliant work! And the physical therapy had such a strong emphasis on improving overall balance. That's helped, too.

Absolutely! There are times that I wish I had a bit more time for myself and family, but most of the time, I love everything real estate.

I've spent a lot of time lately looking down. I really had to work to get over that this year. Glad your surgery went well. We so take healthy bodies for granted, don't we?

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Keep up the walking.
I noticed that Franklin is in the news today as one of the best places to retire.
Tom, I absolutely do!! Learning, stretching, fulfilling....it's all good! (Except for the damned paperwork).
I will say that it has become such a litigious society that I do look out for potholes be also for the fun things. It is fun to have a laugh together and lightens the moments.
If it's not fun, it's just become a job, and that surely isn't fun.
Nice analogy.
What a great post! Finding the joy in anything we do is what keeps us young!
I do find joy in the journey, but as we all know, it's about our attitude. A bad day can be a great day to learn an important lesson. Glad you're getting stronger, Tom. I'll bet Tammie is too. :)
Tom - I'd say you are doing rather well after 3 months. The pit hole s should be avoided without focusing on them.
Oh my, Tom, I didn't realize you went through such an ordeal. I have issues with my right knee but not sure I can even go through with one knee replacement. Keep your head high and pay attention to the journey, even if you stumble a bit, it will be worth it. Wishing you continued recovery.
I missed this update, but glad that I found it just now. It's good to know that you are progressing well and I hope it is continuing to progress well for you each passing day!
Glad to hear your recovery has been progressing well! I do still find the joy in every day and my clients and I enjoy many laughs along the journey! ![]()
Hi Tom - I'm glad to hear your recovery is going well - you're putting your efforts to good use. I'm sure you'll gain more confidence as time, and the miles, go by.
