Moving To The Next Chapter..... Hiring An Assistant

Team WorkIt has been a couple weeks now since I hired an assistant. A Marketing Assistant to be exact. Someone who makes sure each and every week that I am front and center to my little part of the real estate world.

It was not an easy step to make. Paying someone to do something I knew darn well I could do myself was a hard truth to meet face on yet I knew I could not continue down the path I was on. Consistancy in the world of marketing is so important. Oh I was consistant. Consitantly being inconsistant at my best.

I love my marketing assistant. She has brought a much needed helping hand along with some wonderful ideas and systems.

10 hours a week is what she works. Perfect for her and perfect for me. Just enough to make an impact.

Today I am showing property to a couple who stepped forward from the marketing my assistant has been doing. It is possible they may have still stepped forward anyway but then again maybe not.

I must say though that by moving to the next chapter and hiring an assistant I am now constuctively re-evaluating how I work and is truly helping me to be the professional that I know I am.

Good morning, Martha Brown what a smart move to make....this is a post that should be featured so others can fully understand that what you did is what they, too, will soon need to do in order to "get it all done" including the sales....

Congrats to you on taking this step, Martha Brown ... and to the success you've found with it already!  I think your message is extremely timely.  With real estate business having picked-up, many of us have found ourselves under a time crunch.  Taking the step to hire an assistant is a big decision ... but you prove one well worth doing.

That is a very smart move, Martha.   I can relate when I first did it.  It was one of the smartest moves I made and within 2-3 weeks it had more than paid for itself.  I started around 10 hrs a week and then built to full time, and then it was time for a 2nd person.

Hi Martha - congratulations for taking that step. I think you're wise to start with 10 hours, and work up as you see the benefit of having a marketing assistant.

I need one. But what comes first, the chicken or the egg!!!

Not sure how I'd pay for one, but I bet if I had one then I could. Just get nervous when there is a hole in the commission schedule!

Looking forward to hearing more about what they are doing for you!

If you are going to the crab fest, I'd love to chat about this in person.  Having some issues figuring out how to go about this.

Margaret - Way to go. We've talled about a lot of marketing ideas. Would you like me to go over them with your new assistant?

I would highly recommend that people look to elance.com among others for "personal assistants". The quality of work I get from people all over the world at $3 to $10 an hour is outstanding.

This is fantastic!  I love that you have hired an assistant.  I have been considering it myself because I know that having someone be responsible for some of the things that I am doing that would free me up to do bigger things!  Congratulations on the next step in Annapolis domination!  :)  Miss you!
