Life, Liberty and the American Dream is what our forefathers envisioned for the United States of America. Visionaries’ help people see into the future, however, often times many are thought of by their peers as being a little crazy, or eccentric. I am sure when the forefathers decided to gain their independence from Great Britain people thought they had lost their minds. Yet they persevered.
Today people from around the globe want to visit, stay full or part time as citizens in these United States of America. Why? Because of our freedoms. We are not perfect, we are flawed in many ways but still we are a beacon of light that shines for all who want to become citizens. The opportunities are endless, if you dream it, you have the freedom to do it within the constraints of the laws that govern our nation.
To achieve the opportunity to enjoy freedom and to pursue your dreams may sometimes be a daunting task. Obstacles yes, there are some, but equal opportunity is the foundation of our Nation. We are an independent nation made up of independent thinkers; sometimes selfish, often times generous. We are a melting pot of people from many nations, many ethnicities, many skin colors, many religions, and many professions. That is what makes our nation a powerful force. Without this diversity, we would not be as powerful as we are.
Just as our forefathers met with adversity when fighting for their freedoms, we are still trying to hammer out a perfect union. As painful as adversity may be, we learn from it, which causes us to seek higher ground.
No other symbol in our nation displays the attitude and our resolve to equal freedom as that of the Statute of Liberty, a gift from France that says it all…
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of you teaming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
The American Dream is the freedom to be who you want, have what you want, dream the impossible and achieve much. Many laws have been enacted since the Declaration of Independence was drafted to insure equal opportunity for all. One that affects people in my profession (Real Estate) is equal housing opportunities. REALTORs® pledge to make homeownership available to ALL regardless of Race, Creed, Color, Religion, National Origin, Familial Status, Sexual orientation and those who are disabled.
We believe in life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and the American Dream of homeownership. Look for the symbol which means the doors of homeownership is open to all who desire.
The equal housing opportunity sign is our beacon that welcomes you!
As you grill your steaks, hot dogs and burger this 4th of July, remember those whose shoulders we stand on today who made it possible for our freedoms and of those who continue to work to maintain those freedoms.
Happy 4th of July,
