How do you use Voice Search or Siri?

question mark from Free Clip Art"What is the current score in tonight's SF Giants game?"

"Phone number for Best Tile, San Francisco"

"Library hours for ....."

"Phone number for xxxx xxxx  [a Realtor friend} New Mexico"

I've learned that the quickest way to find answers to these and other questions is to use Voice Search on my Android. Sometimes the results are verbal as well as readable. Other times a list of possibilities is shown, or a Wiki entry.

Sometimes, with the aid of GPS, it guesses before I finish my question, as when I asked for library hours, it immediately gave me a list of the 3 libraries closest to my location.

And occasionally I need to re-ask the question in a different format to get the right result.

Do you use Ask Siri, or Voice Search? How does it help you?

It's super-simple, Gita Bantwal, and can be a real time saver.

Jon Kolsky - so much info at our fingertips--or simply by asking.

Lottie - I have Siri and probably should use it more.  I just tried it before doing this comment.  It certainly is convenient.

Hi Grant Schneider - once you get in the habit of using it, I think you'll find Siri a big time saver.

Hello, Joe Petrowsky - I agree - and any time saver I can use, I do!

Lottie,

When Siri first came out, I was excited, and was not 100% pleased.  Now, she is definitely doing a better job, we mainly use Siri for GPS while traveling.  She was great getting us out of the Miami airport, (we have gotten lost there so many times because all the roads merge) and all the other strange airports we find ourselves in...A

Then Siri isn't for you, Maria Gilda Racelis. At least you experimented and could make the right choice.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - getting directions out of a maze at an airport sounds like a huge benefit of using Siri.

Modern technology sure does make life easier sometimes. I remember talking microwaves years ago. We have come a long ways since the microwave came on the scene.

I use voice search on my Android, Lottie, but often it has no idea what I'm asking for. Maybe I need to get it more used to my voice and way of speaking.

My iPad and iPhone both do that too Lottie. I've gotten really lazy and just do searches for everything. What did we do before this came along.

Lottie I do not normally ask Siri questions, but I do use the voice command a lot for dialing phone numbers and sending e-mails and texts.

The next time you're out and need a phone number, or store hours, give Siri a try, George Souto - it might be helpful.

Good reminder post, Lottie! I was so excited when Siri became available. But have gotten lazy and don't bother with it too much. Do have it call phone numbers at times when am racing around. Will start thinking about using it mor when am driving by myself!

Hi Eileen Begley -- I still use Google Voice a lot. I never thought about asking it to dial a phone number for me--that could be handy.
