5 Reasons Venice Florida is an Amazing Place to Live
Venice Florida is an amazing place to live for too many reasons to count, but I will list 5 reasons.
Reason # 1 on the list for many “Northerners” would be the fishing.
If you are into freshwater fishing, there are many small neighborhood lakes where you can catch big fish. Sure you can catch 10 pound plus bass on almost any lake, but we like to take our visitors where they can catch 20 or so catfish in a couple of hours on cane poles!
If you feel the need to go saltwater fishing, you once again have many options. You can charter a deep sea boat, pay a guide (which is a wise thing to do if you don’t know the water; then you can learn the lay of the land so-to-speak) go to a fishing pier or jetty, or talk to a friend or neighbor who might take you to one of his “Hot Spots”
Reason # 2 Venice Florida an amazing place to live is the wildlife.
You can drive down River Road at dusk and see wild hogs on the side of the road or maybe catch a glimpse of a bobcat on the fairways of the Pelican Pointe golf course at Hatchett Creek Drive. Then again there is always the chance to see an alligator at any body of water, or maybe a manatee when they come into warmer waters in the winter. Venice is also home to several bird rookeries where you just might be able to get a once-in-a lifetime picture!
Reason # 3 Venice Florida an amazing place to live is the schools.
Pine View School is one of the top ten schools in the country academically, and Venice High School has won state titles in football, baseball, and volleyball since the year 2000.
Reason # 4 Venice Florida an amazing place to live is the slower paced lifestyle
that is still close to larger venues. Venice is a little more than an hour drive to Fort Myers or Tampa International airports, and closer to Sarasota and Punta Gorda airports. Baseball’s Spring training stadiums for many major league teams are very close (and tickets are inexpensive), while the MLB’s Rays and Marlins, NFL’s Dolphins and Bucs, NHL’s Lightening and Predators, and NBA’s Magic and Heat are one to three hours away. Also, Opera, Theatres, Museums, and theme parks (Disney, Busch Gardens, Lego Land, etc.) are less than two hours away.
Reason # 5 but certainly not last reason that Venice Florida is an amazing place to live is the BEACHES!
Siesta beach in Sarasota is usually rated one of the top beaches in the world, but Venice has one incredible beach after another with plenty of parking (Sorry Sarasota). Whether you go to the Nokomis beach on Wednesday or Saturday to see the drum circle an hour before dark, Venice beach to swim or play volleyball, Caspersen Beach to find sharks teeth or to surf fish, or the dog beach where you can enjoy the water with a furry friend, you just can’t find a better place to live (and I have only mentioned a few things).
