Things I Love About Dallas

Dallas Arts District

Did you know that the Dallas Arts District covers 20 square walkable blocks?  The City of Dallas has created a paradise for lovers of the arts.

Dallas Museum of ArtThe Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) continues to expand its collections of all types of art and curate world class exhibitions. The DMA sponsors lectures, classes, and music events. Best of all, Free admission to the DMA makes it possible for everyone to learn about art.

The Nasher Sculpture Center, an incredible gift from the Nasher Family to the City of NasherDallas, is an architectural work of art designed by Renzo Piano. In addition to indoor galleries, the sculpture garden is a serene place to stroll and enjoy the sculptures displayed in the garden.

Crow Collection of Asian ArtCrow Collection of Asian Art has one of the most beautiful jade collections I have even seen. The Crows began their collection in the 1960s.  Today, the Crow Collection has over 4,000 pieces of Asian Art. Enjoy the sculptures as you enter the museum.

Meyerson Symphony Center   I have enjoyed performances from many vantage points in this symphony hall and the sound has been wonderful from every seat. Maestro Jaap van Zweden is simply the best!

Winspear Opera House is stunning inside and out.  Occasionally the Dallas Opera does a simulcast in the area in front of the Opera House.

Wyly Theater, Dallas City Performance Hall, The Dallas Black Dance Theatre, the AT&T Performing Arts Center, Strauss Square and Sammons Park

Parks

Fair Park is home to the State Fair of Texas, Big Tex and more. The Hall of State is home to the Dallas Historical Society and is filled with Texas history.  The African American Museum has one of the largest African-American Folk Art Collections I have seen.  The Music Hall at Fair Park, well known for hosting Broadway Musicals, has recently been renovated to enhance its Spanish Baroque and Moorish Architecture. Fair Park is also home to the Cotton Bowl and the Texas Discovery Gardens.

white rock lake parkWhite Rock Lake  The history of this beautiful oasis in East Dallas is fascinating. It was once the water source for the city.  Today, the lake and surrounding areas are enjoyed by people who love to walk, run, ride bicycles, enjoy the dog park with their furry friends, picnic, attend events at the Bath House Cultural Center, visit the Butterfly Garden and more.

Klyde Warren ParkKlyde Warren Park just north of the Dallas Arts District connects Uptown to Downtown.  This park is a hub of activity every day.  Visitors can enjoy Yoga in the Park; play with thier dogs in the well designed dog park complete with mini hills, water bubblers, fire hydrants and more;  enjoy concerts and children's activities; purchase food from the popular food trucks; or dine in the Savor Gastropub Restaurant in the park.

Wide Variety of Neighborhoods

Dallas provides a wide variety of choices when searching for a neighborhood to call home.  We have high rise living, zero lot line homes and acreages within the Dallas city limits. Buyers can choose from gated  communities, neighborhoods with HOAs and neighborhoods with no HOA. We also have a wide variety of home prices.

School Choices

Dallas homes are located in one of four public school districts:  Dallas Independent School District, Highland Park Independent School District, Richardson Independent School District, or the Plano Independent School District.  Dallas also has an abundance of private school choices.

Shopping and Local Restaurants

Dallas has some of the best shopping in the country. The Galleria, NorthPark Center, Highland Park Village, The Shops at Park Lane, Lovers Lane, Preston Center, Preston Royal, Preston Forest are popular shopping centers.  Local restaurants with top notch chefs can be found throughout the city.

Good morning Sharon. What is there not to like about Dallas? It is a great town and I enjoy visiting my  friends who live there.

Sharon, good morning! I have always loved Dallas and used to travel there frequently on business when in the corporate world; actually came close several times to taking a job there. (Couldn't bring myself to leave NYC, though.)

Nina, I moved to Dallas from Chicago and had culture shock decades ago.  Dallas is now a cultural gem.  I hope you'll visit again.
