Stalling here this morning...to get out of kayaking

Not long ago while binge watching the show Bloodlines, one of the characters in this show was kayaking in the early morning in the Keys. It looked so peaceful and easy. That's when I said out loud that I would like to do this. I say lots of things to these guys on a daily basis, but this one  stuck in their minds more than load the dishwasher.

Since I made that comment I've looked at kayaks and realized that they aren't as simple as they look. I've watched videos and researched it out online and basically talked myself out of it.  But apparently I haven't talked anyone else out of it.  My husband brought up last night that we are going to Jonathan Dickenson State Park in the morning to rent kayaks and a canoe (canoe for us). Damn, we are actully going through with this.

I know these guys pretty good by now and if I don't wake everyone up early on a day off they will slowly get up and make their way downstairs. It is a good hour drive from where we are now. I'm hoping, since it's a holiday weekend, by the time we get there all the kayaks and canoes will be rented out!

So, I've been as quiet as a mouse this morning! Maybe we can check out the lighthouse in Jupiter Inlet today--I wouldn't want to waste the trip! ;-)

It's too hot to kayak.  Come up with something else fast and don't forget about all the rains that could happen at any moment.

I have never been in a kayak. It looks like a lot of fun! Let us know how your day went.

We went to the state park as planned. Ended up renting two tandem kayak's -- the canoe looked way too unstable. After flopping into the kayak from the dock and a half hour later I wasn't as terrified as when we started out. I'm not big on river water, but it was beautiful on the Loxahatchee. We saw lots of turtles, fish jumping around us and one baby gator. Now that I'm no longer terrified and back at home in the a/c, it was a fun day!
