Owl Keep My Eye Out For You

Keep An Eye Out

One of my greatest joys is capturing wild animals and birds in their natural habitat. Most of the time though, that is not possible. So I make do with wherever I can access them and that entails going to zoos, wild animals sanctuary's and what ever I can capture along the coast.

This owl was one of a larger bird display and he sure was well mannered. I got up very close and he wasn't phased at all with my camera being in his face. My intent was to shoot him with both of his eyes open but he seemed to be content to just keep one open. That was until I started to walk away. I looked back and both eyes were open and he had turned his head toward me. So I stepped back and there goes his eye again. Closed. I suppose if he had both eyes open and I was going to show off his photo, I would've needed a different title.

Are you sure that owl is a "he"?  I think with that wink it is absolutely flirting with you, William!  But, I guess it would be OK if a guy owl thinks you're hot too!

Hi Tammie White , looking at them closely, they look like the same bird. I agree.

Hi Sheila Anderson , I actually had not thought of that, I just figured it was their natural behavior.

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat , I guessed at that based on the idea that most male birds are the more colorful and detailed. The female birds need make up and lipstick to get the same results, LMAO.

I love owls, and birds in general. Whoever uses the term "bird brain" must mean superior intelligence.

William - I've seen a few guys wearing lipstick and trying to look pretty! Let's not be sexist about these things. . .LOL

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat  , I wasn't being sexist. I grew up in a big family with both males and females. The boys showered, shaved and combed their hair and when they came out of the bathroom, my Mother would exclaim, " you look very nice.

The girls had to shower, and then spent an hour doing their hair, makeup, eyes, you name it. They got the same compliment that took the boys only 15 minutes to acheive.

Based on that, that was my reality and it seems to be just as true today as yesterday.

There were exceptions when the girls chose not to so their hair and make-up and half scared the bee jesus out of the rest of us.

I take those truths to be self evident.

That's a real testament from someone who lived an up-close and personal existence to it all, William!  I have always envied men, who can look like fine wine with a minimum of trouble, where gals need an hour to get minimally "presentable."  Where is the justice in that? Of course it has never been said that life is fair!
