I recently helped one of my landlord clients find a renter for one of his Addison properties.
The tenant didn't want the lease to start until the first of the month, but she wanted to move a few items in early. The landlord did not have a problem with that since she paid the security deposit and first month's rent up front.
I was going to be out of town on the day the tenant wanted to get the keys, so I put a combination lockbox on the door before I left. The day the tenant wanted to move some items in, I called her with the combination and told her I'd retrieve the lockbox from the door when I got back into town.
I got back home a few days later and went to retrieve the lockbox. Gone!
I called the tenant's agent who knew nothing about it. She finally tracked down the tenant who told her that the lockbox would be delivered to my office the next day.
This is what I found:
I guess she just really didn't want that lockbox on the door and when she couldn't figure out how to remove it (it's really easy and if you can retrieve the keys from inside, you're half way there), just replaced the whole doorknob.
