How many Property Manager's had Emergency Calls on the 4th of July?

How many property manager's out there made it through the 4th of July weekend without an emergency call?

I recently received an email from one of my good ole friends that works for a local property management company.  It was his turn to be on call for the holiday weekend.  Unfortunatley one of the apartment building caught on fire due to a firework that was thrown at the building catching the side of the apartment complex on fire, going up the 2-story building into the attic.

With his family and friends all hanging out at his house over the weekend.  One of the pictures they captured of my friend, was on the back porch with his cell phone in hand making 100+ calls.  The caption read:  "Nice seeing you Dad".

He couldn't wait to get back to work yesterday (Monday) so he could turn this  project back over to the responsible property manager.

Sometimes being at work is more peaceful and relaxing then weekends in property management.

We manage all the properties we own ourselves, fortunately we did not get any calls, but if we did, we would handled them.

Property managers know that emergencies can require attention at any time, including holidays. I have experienced major fires and floods at garden apartments.

Good post that indeed is an issue about our work. It is sometimes round the clock.
