Throw Back Thursdays With Houston Art

Weeks ago my good friend and I decided to take a walking tour of downtown Houston. We visited some of my old haunts while working there and enjoyed the art Houston has interjected into the downtown area.

I was amazed at how much more art had been added to downtown Houston. I am glad of it. When I left that downtown job for something closer to home Houston was just beginning to add art to attract more culture to the city.

I must say they have done an awesome job!

Alexandra that first sculpture is really massive. It is about 12 feet tall... I was trying to find the 3 other pictures I have of it where I am standing next to it. Of course they have disappeared.

You know Robert (Bob) Gilbert it is a shame we have to much to see, do, and experience in the Houston area and we are so busy that we just can't seem to get around to checking it out.

Thank you John Pusa !   I hope one day you can make it down for a walking tour yourself.

I have to tell you a secret Lou Ludwig I am not much at walking either!

Your pictures are great, Sussie. I'm glad you shared them with us. It's also nice that Houston is doing a lot to support the arts.

Grant Schneider I want a picture of the Presidents heads. Instead of getting a picture of them before they moved them from Highway 288, I  thought that I would wait to get a picture at the new location. However, I was silly not to have checked to see where they would move them to. Now I have found them but they are in a little niche between two or three freeway/express ways where no one can EVER possibly stop to take a picture.

Julie Morales While we have an Art District.... most of Houston's sculptures are really spread out. Some just jump out at me and I make a note and go back a take a picture of them at a later date.

It surely is Debbie Reynolds time to get back.... then you can compare TN BBQ to Houston's BBQ!

I think that is my favorite to Rose King !  I really like the man sculptured from letters... I think they all say Houston.

@Roy Kelly... I am so afraid of ruining a museum piece! I always ask. Usually I am told no I can't take pictures.

James Murr I have so many more sculptures to take pictures of. However, their locations sometimes make it hard to take those photos.
