On Tuesday I started a draft of my Ask an Ambassador post for today. But on Wednesday a good thing happened that made me scratch that draft and take a new direction. I really want to thank a self proclaimed newbie for reminding me what is good and awesome about the community of members here at ActiveRain. So MIKE ROCK, thanks for noticing.
It's an awesome day when someone new here says in a nutshell that he's amazed at the lack of self promotion here because of all the posts where we are helping each other out. The complete irony of it all was the post I had in draft that I had started to write about about "negative comments". So when I came across Mike's comment I thought to myself... if he doesn't see it, then why should I point it out.
Good can win over evil if we spread the good and ignore the evil. Positive and well meaning and information sharing posts are what is prevalent here. So I spent the rest of week with a new sense of optimism about ActiveRain. If a newbie is in awe of the helping each other out, then let's give him more of that.
So I challenge each of you who read this post today to for next week do two things. Don't post that negative comment, just move on. And the second thing I'd like to challenge you to do is write one of those helpful posts. Write a post that you would have wanted to find if it were your first day discovering activerain and blogging. What one thing is something you would have wanted a seasoned blogger to share with you.
No, this isn't a contest and no there won't be bonus points waiting at the end of the month for you pick up for taking this challenge and writing a post. But what you just might do is make someone else who is a newbie like Mike take notice that this community is really about us folks in the trenches helping each other out. It always has been at the core of the members. And today under new ownership I believe it's back in the core of our leadership as well.
