Scenes From the 2015 Palisade Lavender Festival
I've been going to this festival since it started. It's always been a great time, but this year was the best yet. This isn't an extra large festival. It's held in a small Western Colorado town in a small park, but the turnout was the best I've seen. My favorite day is Saturday in the Town Park. The festival actually runs Friday through Sunday. Here's more information.
There were less than 50 vendors but the variety and unique nature of the products for sale made it seem like there were more. Two of the local wineries were also on hand (this is wine country).
Of course there were all kinds of products using lavender...cookies, breads, lavender wands, healing balms, lotions, oils and sprays. I expected to find the lavender products...after all that's what this event is all about.
The unexpected was the garden art and jewelry made from old spoons. How about a basket made of pine needles embellished with small pine cones? One booth had seasoned olive oils, balsamic vinegars and spice blends. They would make up a mixture of oil and vinegar and spices and then let you sample the result. A wood turner was there with the most beautiful handmade bowls.
The music is always good. David and Tamara know all the old rock and roll songs.
The cooking demonstrations will inspire those with culinary talents.
This is a must do Colorado festival. Palisade is a wonderful small community just outside of Grand Junction. The people are friendly and there are many unique shops in the area.
I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 24 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
