Travel the country...the world...now!

I saw this image that I thought was rather hilarious, but it sort of slaps me in the face and tells me to wake up.  This is also found on Createfinancialwealth.com

I went roaring through the first two stages...and now that I am at the last stage with some aches and pains and a lot of weight I can’t seem to lose, I find myself rethinking what I’d like to do next, or what I should now.

TRAVEL!

Travel was always big on my bucket list. Gary and I have driven cross-country and up and down California and all the way to British Columbia. We’ve gone on ocean and river cruises to Alaska and Europe. But it’s still not enough.

Where to?

In the course of my prior occupation, I managed to visit 40 of the 50 states, plus Puerto Rico. I’d like to see the other 10. And then explore more of Canada, too. And go back to Europe for more touring --- the last time by river cruise, and maybe the next time by Recreational Vehicle (RV)?

How?

I’ve gone on several web sites, trying to see if an RV adventure is right for us (okay, ME!). But which RV? At ChangingGears.com I found this comparison which truly appeals to me because it’s in a matrix format and makes it easy to see at a glance the pros and cons. This is steering me towards getting a Class C for the reasons mentioned. We can always bring along bicycles or a scooter as a supplementary way to check explore.

The other challenge now is convincing Gary to go on the road. He’s always wanted to go camping, but I told him my idea of camping is being in a solid container with a bathroom. I’ve camped in a sleeping bag and in a tent, and I had to walk several yards away and somewhere private to go to the bathroom, and washed myself in ice cold water in a stream. Been there, done that via Outward Bound. And although that was quite an adventure, I think that at my age, comfort and safety are paramount since energy and agility are absent.

When and for how long?

So we are crafting a plan…..and we will make this happen very soon. This is now on top of our bucket list.  We’ll stay on the road for as long as we can. After all, he was the one who used to tell me that each time we moved, all he really needed was his toothbrush, his computer and his phone, and off we go. We must add internet service to that mix.

It is crazy how fast life can fly by, one day its 2013 then its 2015 and two more years are gone. I try to get a few bucket list items done all the time, you never know how much longer you have, live life as much as you can everyday to stay happy and keep working towards that life of happiness.

Its so sad how time flies which is why we need to live every day to its fullest. My parents are aslo in the last category and have a gorgeous 36 foot motorhome.  Today, we are at the coast in Southern California soaking up some sunshine and making the most of the time we have all been given. Thanks for the post.

Stefan Winter --- time is going by so fast, and each ache and pain in my aging body is making me realize more and more to that one can't stop time, and one must enjoy life every day.

Jennifer Provencio --- my parents were the same age as we were when they moved to California. They lived very simply, with very little. But managed to cram a lot of life. They managed to criss-cross the country (and Canada) three times, first driving their tiny Suzuki Samurai, and then a Jeep Cherokee. They also managed to travel overseas, the last time when they were 75 years old.  I hope to travel to every place where they have gone.

Winston Heverly, Thank you. I am trying to get motivated to blog again, and find that when I treat the blog like a diary, I have more things to talk about :)

I think travel is something everyone should experience, and something I'm more focused on now as well (while I have that energy!).  Great reminder to never put off our dreams.
